So, you're suddenly interested in lucidity, huh? Wonderful!  I've just finished a book called "The Lucid Dreamer', by Malcom Godwin. If you get a chance, you should check it out. It's not like a regular dream book. They tend to be boring and scientific. This author writes about people who are spiritually powerful (as well as the usual dream stuff). He has information about shamans, aborigines, medicine men, etc. and how they use dreams for power. He has a nuber of excersizes to try. To answer your question, the moment I have a feeling that it might be a dream, I immediately become lucid. Sometimes I never Question it, or test it. When I was first starting my practices, the dream sequence would be very short. I would also wake up from excitement.  Through practice you will learn tricks to gain control in all aspects.

I am interested because I have only just recently begain to dream regularly again.  I haven't dreamed consistantly for a long time.  So now I have more chances to "play" with it.

The book sounds interesting.  I know that before I would use dreams to work out the mechnics of certain physical action.  That's how I learned how to do back flips off of the diving board.  I have also tried to get other things to "carry over" in that way.

I've had times wheren i went lucid to obe but I did have times I went lucid to waking up.  Its freaky when you meditate in your bed before you sleep sometimes you may get aware that you are dreaming and say hey I'm in my bedroom now this is not real then you become lucid.  I felt paralysis kick in after I became lucid only problem is I rushed myself and said shut down and woke up instead of waiting it other times I maybe stare at some fixed objects and become more and more lucid/aware then pay attention to noise in my ear then blink my eyes in my dream and then black out/shut the dream down then I ended up in my bedroom and walked out of my body.

i believe that as soon as you are aware you are dreaming then you are lucid.  it is possible to have lucid dreams w/out control over the dream.  there is a great site, www.lucidity.com, that will answer most of your questions.  it's also great to read before going to sleep to get your mind thinking about dreaming.  there are several different techniques in there that will help to maintain lucidity once you are lucid.  i've tried most of them and have had some sucess w/ the dream spinning.  i've also tried to stabilize by looking at my hands or something else solid in the dream but it never works for me.  reality fluctuations come and i end up oobe.

Okay another question.

How often does lucidity kick in after awareness?

I have been finding that I am almost instantly aware that I am dreaming.  I would have to say that in about 60% of the cases this causes the dream to terminate.  I go "oh, wait, this is a dream."  and then it's over.  The rest of the time pending the dream I will ask questions or play.

But how often does this happen and what are some things that can be done to prevent termination of the dream after awareness?
