Title: How to Overcome Fears During Lucid Dreams
Post by: Guenhwyvar on October 05, 2009, 14:42:28
During the past few nights I have had 2 lucid dreams.  I've become aware that I am dreaming and then gone from where I am upon becoming lucid to outside, so that I can fly  :-)
It's great to fly during a dream, I love doing this.  I would really like to go to outer space and look around/experience the universe during these dreams.

During the first LD I had a few nights ago, I went outside and jumped up to fly in a yard.  I had the thought to go out of the Earth's atmosphere, and when I started flying higher I decided I'd probably get scared, so I stayed lower.

Last night I decided that since nothing can hurt me during a dream, I would try it.  I flew higher and higher, almost hit a helicopter but went around it, then continued going higher until I was almost level with the clouds.  At this point I became overwhelmed with the magnitude of everything, clouds, planets, etc, the thought of being so far from the ground and from Earth were I to continue.  I immediately woke myself up.

Does anybody have any ideas as to how to overcome this fear?  I could push myself further away from the ground but my fear awakens me.  The dreams are so vivid that it feels completely real, despite my knowledge that I am in fact dreaming.  Lucid Dreams are great but my own fears seem to be limiting me.

Thanks,
~Kristina

The only thing that has really helped me is to realize (and you can do this if you're lucid) that I have never been really hurt in a dream before.  After this it's easy.

Thanks for the response, CFTraveler!  I do try to keep that in mind, but the next time I have a lucid dream (hopefully in the near future), I will try to reiterate that to myself.
