why do some names get stuck on us?

i had an amazing dream not so long ago.
where i was looking over a map. kinda like google earth but i was actually above the actuall continent. and it looked so amazing
the sun and tiny white/aquamarine clouds.pretty much like one of those tropical beach posters but 100 times better.
but when i woke up, i could not locate the continent on the map anywhere, it was pretty big tookinda looked like north america but it wasnt.
and when i woke up i also had a name stuck in my head which was Buenos Aires. can someone explain that?
so i looked at the map of argentina and its still not same continent i ve seen but it was our gobe tho since i ve seen other continents and all.

another word that i had in my head that i ve been carrying around with me since i was a kid is Altai(mountains in russia/china)

Could you point out where on Earth it was? Which ocean, maybe? Any way you could draw its shape?

it was shaped kinda like north america but it was much brighter, the climate was more tropical it had a feeling of fresh mountain air with tropical warmth and marshmallow clouds stretching across whole continent
