I've never heard of lucid dreams being harmful to the body at all, nor have i heard of them being used to organise memory from the wakign life.
Lucid dreams are natural for a lot of people though. Many people are born With the ability to lucid dream and often think everybody else can do the same. I was talking with a friend about lucid dreaming earlier this year. He's in his mid 20s and has never heard of lucid dreaming. When i told him what it was he said he could do it, but he thought eveyrbody could. He's as normal and natural as anybody i know too.
I see lucid dreams as being far more beneficial than harmful.
I'm not sure how valuable this link might be to you, since you say you've had at least one lucid dream, but i'll share it anyway... http://welcome.to/share-a-dream
I found that website the most helpful out of all of the others i've seen.

Lucid dreams are not harmfull but sometimes they might be unpleasant. I remember of two such dreams. In the first one as I realized I was dreaming (and this happened, as it often does, when in the dream I look into the mirror), I decided to wake up. So the picture of the dream dissapeared and I was left alone in the darkness and silence (the "dark" place). I knew I was sleeping so I tried to feel my body, but I could not feel anything, nothing at all, it was just me (my conscious alone) and the "void" (dark silence place). For a few very long second I felt desperate of not beint able to find my body. When I finally did and woke up I had a very bad feeling, like when you wake up from a nightmare. I needed to drink water and breath some fresh air. The other time it happened was when in the dream I saw the night sky, with stars, I could recognize the constellation of Orion, and then I realized I was dreaming, and as I wanted to have precognitions, I asked the sky to reveal me the future, and the only answer I got was a sensation of fear, anxiety, engulfing me, again like in a nightmare. So well that in another lucid dream when I saw again the sky I immediately said to myself, let's not ask the sky again... So it seems that for me at last lucid dreams can be unpleasant. It might be due to the fact that one is in contact with his/her own subconscious world, not sure. I hope this helps.

Hi

LD'ing can in fact be harmful, but then again so can any other dream. For example, if you get stabbed in a dream sometimes you will feel it and sometimes you wont. When you do feel it, it actually feels like your being stabbed in real life! it really really hurts!
Also, you can wake up from dreaming and feel sweaty/cold/thirsty/hungry/have a headache, etc, etc.

LD'ing is natural for me, I was born with the gift. This doesn't mean I have a LD every night, but about 1-2 times a week.

I wonder if doing lucid dreaming might be harmful to the human body. After all LD isn't natural, at least not for me. Assuming it's true that the human brain uses dreams to organize memory from the waking life, dealing with problems or doing whatever, couldn't it be harmful then, if one practices LD on a daily basis?
Please share your thoughts on this, Tom

BTW: In my last LD I tried to get to the RTZ. So I closed my eyes and said "kitchen" cause I wanted to visit my home. I felt some movement and as I opened my eyes I saw only black it was kind of a void, i could see something very faint but not really much. I tried several times, same result. then I decided to return to the dream which worked. Any ideas what went wrong?
