Interesting dream

Ok, sorry for the nondescript title. I had a dream about a week ago that I would like to share. I've split it into two parts. Maybe they were separate dreams or I just blacked out in-between.

The whole thing takes place in a historical setting that seems to be a blend of Lord of the Rings and Gladiator scenarios (I like those films :D).

Part I:
I couldn't remember much about Part I after waking up but I'm quite sure a lot of stuff happened.
So we (Dunno who we is. Maybe the human race) are at war with our enemies (orcs?). I'm a warrior and I have a stuffed rat and a coin which I know will be really useful in the battle. The coin has a future year engraved on it (i.e. it's from the future). I feel like I could be a time traveller. For some reason I mustn't let anyone see these "secret weapons" though. Maybe because then they would figure out I'm from the future?

Part II:
Now I have a family and we live in a simple thatched hut (no rooms). The colour palette is very... sandy. There's a strong sense of history, it feels like I have a background. I'm the father in the family and I'm probably the time traveller from Part I. We're expecting an attack at night and we have weapons to defend ourselves. They look like the hobbits' knives/swords from the LoTR films.
Then it gets a bit confusing because now I'm the son and for some reason the hut has rooms. (It doesn't feel like I missed something in-between though, it's just dream logic. :P) The others are waiting in front of a barricaded front door for the attack. Meanwhile I walk into a back room. There are two people sleeping in here but I don't take any interest in them. I fear the attackers might try coming in through the sealed window in this room. Then I sense movement outside the window. I get scared and call for help. At this point I feel like a little boy calling for his daddy. In a dreamlike fashion I can't shout very loud and nobody hears me. I'm not terrified out of my wits though. I have my sword pointed towards the window. I'm frightened but ready for a fight. The window opens and it turns out there is a basket of supplies being shoved in from allies outside. The atmosphere becomes very cheerful and the family (including my brothers and sisters) joins in to examine the cheese and bread and all the cool stuff we just got. While we're going through the stuff I say: "Wow, and it's even all wrapped up in plastic like in the 21st century." The other kids giggle and shush me because I shouldn't be pointing out these anomalies to the others.

I'm not sure whether the whole thing is about time travel or whether we're actors in a film. But nevertheless it feels like I'm in on some kind of secret and I mustn't share it lest I "wake the others up".

So, here are some questions I have:

1. Either I switch perspective or I have several perspectives at once in this dream. Has anybody here encountered something similar before?

2. The whole situation in the back room, looking at the window, is a familiar dream setting for me (at least the emotions attached) but for some reason the exact opposite to what I expect occurs. I don't think I've ever experienced such a direct contradiction of thought -> action in a dream. What do you guys think about this?

3. After waking up I was so surprised about how the dream took an unexpected twist at the end that I considered having received "outside help" from a benevolent entity influencing my dream. Taking the whole idea even further, could it be that this was "more than just a dream"? The whole setting had a very strong sense of being a "real world". Could I have been in some sort of Focus 3 oC (Kepple terminology) or Focus 24-26 (Monroe terminology) kind of place?

Is that the usual focus level for dreams?

Xanth

Yes, Focus 22 is supposedly the area of consciousness that Monroe labeled where we dream.
However... I've been on the fence (as I have with a lot of issues lately) as to if one is actually stuck there while dreaming or lucid dreaming.  I'm wondering nowadays if it's possible to slip into one of the other focus levels while in a dream or lucid state.

According to Moen you can reach at least F 27 while dreaming, depending on your (subconscious?) intent. Moen has held informative speeches to incarnates when they have gathered around him in F 27, while they have been dreaming in deep sleep, in the hope that some information will make its way back to real life.

But most people, who for example are dreaming of LOTR environments or slaying dragons, are making their own temporary reality in F 22.

Others may just be hovering over their bed, big parts of the night, close to the RTZ.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. The main reason I starting jumping to wild conclusions though was the unexpected twist at the end of my dream. I've had a lot of dreams before and this (expecting/awaiting something, only for something completely different to happen) really stands out as a first experience.

But maybe you're right and I'm simply trying to inject more meaning into something than it really deserves.

The best you can do is to read Die Traumdeutung -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Interpretation_of_Dreams by S Freud. The book is still highly valid, quite modern and not copyrighted anymore, so you can read it online.

Ok, thanks man. I'll give it a shot.
