There was a very recent thread about "the use of flying as a reality check" in dreams.   Well I just posted to it, and now the entire thread has completely disappeared!

I posted twice, both times apparently unsuccessfuly (my browser just hung).  The I went back into the forum and found that both identical posts had actually succeeeded.  So then I attempted to delete the more recent post.  At this point everything hung again, and now the whole thread has disappeared!

So - for the moderators - this is a little worrying because we could easily accidentally lose some very long and valuable threads by this method!

btw Leo, thanks for the compliment about the Avatar!  I replied in some length but the post was lost as described!  Our family once had exactly the same experience you described, with our mother cat giving birth to a litter in secret and weaning them without our knowledge.  This was to avoid having her babies taken away from her and leaving her broken hearted.  These instincts are as strong in animals as they are in humans!

Good luck with your litter!

Hi!

I just tried to post a reply in the Psychic Self-Defense forum and the EXACT same thing happened to me.  It was a VERY important post I had put on the board in Feb. 2002 under a different username.  I was finally getting some good information when I somehow had two posts.  I decided to remove one so I wouldn't have a duplicate.  But then, I had somehow deleted the ENTIRE thread as well.  I posted the problem in the Bug Reports and Questions Forum at the bottom.  I hope the threads are not completely lost.  Hopefully, someone can find out what went wrong.

Good luck!

Hi Juliet

Yes it's a bit worrying.  For the information of the techies who maintain the site, just prior to this problem I was getting messages saying there were "too many connections open" to their "SQL database server", and I suspect that this caused the mess up!

Hope you get your thread back!

hi catmeow

Flying as a reality check was my post lol , yes its dissapeared , it was a good idea that i had . i went to look for it today in the dream forrum and its dissapeared, i d like to hear the feedback to that idea

Its a funny 1 because , when i do fly in the dream it seems to knock me to conscuiosness most times, which to me indicates the flyings acted as a trigger  to bring me aware in the dream .

You know, I was wondering the same thing.  I just assumed that I forgot which thread I had been on (my talking at length about Kitties could have transpired in any thread, and I had quite forgotten what the original topic had been).

But now I remember that I had been saying that "Reality Checks" make sense in Theory, but in practice, most of the time, people become Lucid because the Energy Level raises them to that point, and not because of any mental deductions.

Cat's Meow made the point, I believe, along with the Thread Starter that the very act of Flying in a Dream raises the consciousness level somewhat, though I can observe that often the Consciousness is not raised sufficiently to automatically trigger lucidity.  Often in Dream I will begin to Fly, and instead of naturally deducing that I am dreaming, because I can only Fly in my dreams, I think that ... "Wow, finally, I have learned how to Levitate."

Hi Leo and experimental

Yes I basically agreed with both of you.  Namely that for me too, flying is a trigger to lucidity, and also I agreed with Leo that I just tend to become lucid spontaneously, for absolutely no apparent reason.  My feeling at the time is that I am slowly becoming conscious of the fact that I'm in a dream, and that this awareness reaches a level where I "capture" the awareness and act on it.

So when I become lucid I say to myself "right I'm dreaming - let's get on with it".  It's so easy to think "right I'm dreaming" and then to just sink back into the dream.  Sometimes I sink back into the dream on purpose - because I want to know how it ends!  But really the trick is to "capture" the realisation of lucidity and then to consciously act on it.

Yep i agree

The main point to the experiment to me was to see if i could  do this at will, but thats to difficult for me , the very act of raising etheric energy  to then channel into the realisation " i m going to become lucid as soon as i fly "  is a great idea to try and skip the exit sensations from a fully blown conscuios OBE .

And funny enough for all i dont make these ideas happen at will, i can still get some conscuios control over the expereince when it happens ( flying to trigger lucidity )  .  The last 1 i had it was because of a false awakening, when i woke up i started to levatate instead of walking to the door, which autimatically braught me to concsessness as soon as i begun hovering .

Somthing in that expereince was nt right tho , to suggest i was in the real time zone, because as soon as i started to hover above the bed , i did nt go through the quilt  and start hovering, ( the actual quilt remained in the same position  and rose up with me )  which suggested my sub-con mind had delibritly created a  quilt in the same position without me createing it .

So it suggested to me i was more in a Lucid dream created enviroment , that was maybe createing a identicle enviroment to my bedroom to trick me into thinking this was the real time zone lol
