Ok, so I've had many lucid dreams and I completely love them, but has anyone else had a half lucid dream? I mean like a dream where you truely know your dreaming, yet still aren't able to control the dream?

It's the strangest experience because you sit in your dream while a cop is chasing you for example and you just sit there saying to yourself, "oh I'm just dreaming, I think I'll fly away and sit on the beach or something." Yet when you try you can't, and you'll get arrested in your dream.

It freaks me out sometimes because I feel as though I'm in between something somehow and I can't break it. Like my body is asleep and I know it is, sometimes I even will see myself sleeping, yet I can't shake the dream and mold my own.... :?

I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this, or if someone has an idea of why this would happen and how to overcome it?

I have had this happen.. one of my more memorable LD's was where i was getting attacked and chased etc.. eventually i was cornered in a room with people throwing knives at me etc.. Eventually I started to "Kung-Fu" a few of the dream people and eventually woke up..

I'm not sure how to overcome it.. Sometimes the dream scenario is very real & even if you know you're dreaming it's hard to break out! I can't remember having these types of LD's happen too often though.. usually i can control aspects.. fly etc.. though this is easier or harder depending...

Possibly some part of your consciousness or Higher Self are seeking to learn/teach a lesson?

Maybe talk to the dream characters.. interact a bit more.. for example when the cop was chasing you and you realised you were dreaming you could have stopped and asked "sorry officer why are you chasing me?" or similar.. though be prepared for any type of confrontation.. hopefully you and the other characters can understand each other through peaceful means..

Look for dream symbols, and analyse the dreams yourself to see if there is a familiar thread and then look for what you may need to learn...

I do remember having a series of dreams and it wasn't until i confronted one of the characters in the dreams...overcame some fear and got an "Ahhh" feeling when going over it in the morning... then the theme stopped..

I believe for you to be having these dreams you must have all the wisdom and tools available to you to decipher these dreams yourself..

Good Luck!

Aye these can be quite comical. I often see myself in third person and watch my 'body' in the dream doing something and think ' why on earth did you do that?' Or it is like someone else is in control and I am watching myself while being lucid at the back of my (dream)head.

Even if i cant control the dream I can often control what happens to me, not sure how but I think it took years of mental conditioning to make it sink in even while asleep, but if someone fires a gun at me i know I am dreaming and I carry on as if nothing happened (terminator like!  8-)) or even once I had my head chopped off though I knew I was dreaming and it couldnt harm me so after seeing the amazed look of the person who did the chopping, i took the sword from her and decided to try it on her, her head rolled most satisifyingly! (sounds odd that last bit but as I know i was dreaming i knew i wasnt hurting anyone so I think, why not)

I find it easier to change things or even do things by not thinking about them, just do.  When you start to wonder 'how' 'if' your logic brain kicks in and the starts to think if it is possible in the real world . I find just doing like its an everyday thing you do in the real world has more potential to work. Rather like. .when you go to pick something up, you dont think how to do it, you just do :)

Thanks so much for your input! :) I love to interpret my own dreams and do on a daily basis, so I beleive you may be very right about my higher self trying to teach me something.

Talking to the characters is something I haven't tryed yet! That could be interesting, and will definatly give it a try.

Thanks again!
