Lucid Dreaming

Last night I had a very short, but influential dream.  I was sitting in my room, or some recreation of it, across from one of my best friends.  We were both holding a candy bar and trying to change the foil into some other substance mainly because I wanted to prove to myself that I was dreaming.  Anyway, I was holding to candy bar in my left hand and moving my right hand from right to left over the candy bar, in hopes that after my hand passed over the bar the foil would be different.  The first couple of tries had no affect and the foil stayed gold, but on the third try, i thought to myself, "this isn't working because I don't expect it to." So after that I changed my method of thinking and expected it to be silver.  Sure enough as my hand passed over it, it changed into silver.  A proud feeling passed over me as I handed the bar to my friend.  However when I tried the same trick with his bar I was unsuccesful, can anyone enlighten me as to why I couldnt do it the second time and let me know if this is a good sign?

Thats a GOOD sign. Had the same prob a couple nights ago but then i reminded myself i was only dreaming and it worked. question though, was your friend lucid dreaming as well?

The reason it did not work may be that that your friend did not want you to change the foil color of his/her bar of candy, lol.

In the waking I can make clouds disappear, unless someone is fighting me on it.  One cancels out the energy of the other, especially if both energies are equal.

What part of the brain is responsible for dreaming?
Two areas in the cerebral hemispheres (very far away from the pons, which is responsible for REM sleep) and the areas of the brain responsible for higher mental functions:

1. Deep white matter of the frontal lobes which contains large fiber pathway which transmit the neurotransmitter dopamine from the middle part of the brain to the higher parts of the brain.
2. Gray cortex at the back of the brain (occipito-temporo-parietal junction) which is where the brain performs the highest level of processing of perceptual information.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the evidence that the frontal lobe of the brain is responsible for dreaming?

* Damage to the frontal areas renders dreaming impossible but leaves the REM cycle unaffected.

* L-dopa (a drug, used against Parkinsonâs disease, which increases the amount of dopamine) leads to a massive increase in the frequency and intensity of dreaming without any effect on the frequency or intensity of REM sleep.

* The intensity of dreaming caused by dopamine stimulants (like L-dopa) can be stopped by drugs which block the transmission of dopamine (like anti-psychotics).
