I would suggest getting more control of your lucid dreams first. You can do this in a number of ways. A popular method is to say "Clarity Now!" or "More Lucid Now" or something stating your desire and will. My favorite method is to spin around in my dream. This helps me get more centered and aware of my dream body over my real body. I usually check to make sure I'm more in the dream body by trying to sense what position my sleeping body is in, and if I can't tell, I know I'm deep into my dream.

As far as going astral, as soon as you're lucid, atetmpt to jump back to your sleeping body, with the intention of astral projecting. As soon as you feel connected to your body, roll out, pop out, crawl out, whatever you can do. Its not that hard once you try a time or two, but I'd been lucid dreaming for quite some time before I even knew it was possible.

I know what that is like.  Usually for me the only dreams that I remember are the ones that I became aware durring.  In my opinion this is a big step towards more lucid dreaming.  I know one of the things that has helped me a lot was to try not to get excited when I became aware.  I took a more mellow and laid back aproach keeping the thoughts simple at first.  I would often tell myself "Okay, I'm dreaming..so now what?"

Another thing that helped me at first was to not try and force the control over the entire dream but rather just myself and my own actions.  I would try to keep my mind thinking about what was going on by asking myself questions like what I was doing in the dream, what was going on, and if there was some purpose to the dream.  Later I branched out to just trying to have a little fun by doing things out of step with the rest of the dream.  Like turning left when the dream wanted me to turn right.

Keep in mind that you don't always have to fully lucid in a dream to get anything out of it.  Some times doing that can mess up a good dream and you kinda loose the "practice" of getting the feeling of what is going on and what you are doing.

I also wanted to mention that over 90% of my dreams are in the 3rd person, or in other words, im watching myself and other people.  What does that mean?  I dont think I can change it but it makes it hard to get fully lucid.

You still have a Point of View, even if dreaming about yourself, or someone else. Maybe call it a point of awareness. Maybe by realizing you're watching something, similar to a movie, it could actually help you become lucid. I bounce back and forth between the two points of view as well. Its never been a limitation. I have a similar problem as well.

I have been more aware of my dreams latley. The storyline, what I was doing, how I was doing it, etc. My dreams have been becoming more clearer and  a bit easier to remember now, but I still haven't been aware that when I am in a dream, that I am dreaming and can control the outcome.

Still gotta get over the hump

I have been sleeping a lot lately and have often become aware i am in the middle of dreaming.  When this happens I think that I should be able to do what I want, but it is hard for me to keep focused and I usually forget and my dreams take random turns without my control. At the same time I become aware that I am dreaming, I am aware that I am sleeping in my bed.  I wouldnt say that I am having and OBE because I never leave my body, but some part of me becomes aware of the real world while im dreaming.  This usually only lasts for as long as I can focus on the fact that I am dreaming. What does this mean?  Does anybody have any tips or advice to have a true lucid dream or maybe even an OBE?
