I know it sounds weird, but I couldn't put it any other way.
Lately, for nearly a week my mom has gotten extremely bitter about everything. I can understand why, but she verbally snipes about everyone if she is still awake in the wee hours of the morning and she thinks everyone else is asleep.
What happens then is that even if I am asleep, I can still hear her voice. While it might not wake me up, her voice has made me dreams things. While it is cool to dream, I want to go back to doing it without outside factors corrupting it into something it shouldn't have been in the first place.
I should not have to be reduced to wearing my earplug earbuds without music just so I can try to drown out someone's voice while I am sleeping! Is there any try earplugs I can get to drown out all sound? The earbuds work good by themselves, but it doesn't cut all sound out.

One of my favorite techniques is called ignoring. But if you can't just ignore stuff like that, then i dont really know what to tell you. If you cant ignore the little things, your life must be hell right now. Best thing to do is learn how to get into a state of mind where you can look past all of that. If you cant do that, then ear buds/plugs is probably your best option.
Half the time I don't even know if, at the moment of the dream if it is her voice shaping it. It's not like I actually hear her yelling or whatever like one big huge narrator. Most of the times it's more of like her voice shapes the "theme" of the dream. So there's nothing to knowingly "ignore" besides not trying to dream at all.
I only found out that this was going on when I happened to wake up a couple of times when she is in mid-rant. Be it in the kitchen, or when she's downstairs. We have one of the modular homes that was built in the 80s. Not very soundproof so anything said downstairs can be very nearly heard clearly by anyone in one of the rooms upstairs. But I know I have to get true earplugs at this point: thing was I asked if anyone knew any good ones.
