Title: Negative Lucid Dreaming?
Post by: Cantfly on November 19, 2015, 09:13:04
Hi all,

I've always had very imaginative dreams, when I was young I had a lot of dreamlike experiences that I couldn't distinguished  as being a dream or being real. That's not what I am here to talk about though.

I have alot of dreams where bad things happen. But I know bad things are about to happen even before they unfold. Example of a dream I had last night. I was laying in bed with my girlfriend just talking, I glanced over to the window and saw my cat sleeping, then I hear the a downstairs door shut. At this point I already know it's the back door to the house and strangers have entered. I continue on the dream like nothings happened and soon enough the strangers enter the room we are in. At this point I already know who they are (relatives to my dad). One of them is happy and apologises then the other one points a gun at me and says it's my dad's fault his in alot of trouble. Then before I am shot I wake up.  Pretty bonked up dream

If I am aware of things happening in my dreams is that not Lucid Dreaming?  And if it that's true why do I never react to the bad things that unfold?

You are not aware enough to react with all your physical sense. In a LD what you think will happen does happen as thoughts manifest.
Your sleep position can affect the theme of your dreams if you're sensitive to this.

When words are changed in your reply, its a polite reminder that we have some young members aboard

Thanks for replying

But that's the point, am I not sub consciously effecting my dream for the worse. I know what is about to happen. For whatever reason did I decide to change a pleasant dream into a messed up one

I have experimented with this and you really can influence your dreams. These turn into a lucid dream but you can scare yourself silly before this happens. If you have enough awareness to realise this you can stop the dream in its tracks by shouting 'freeze' and knowing it will stop dead. It breaks up then leaves you in the 3D blackness from where you are now in total control.
Thinking an action will occur in a dream will make it occur as thoughts manifest. It's a sign that you'reaking a progressive transition to a lucid state. You do need to have control of your fears to do this and just knowing you are in control works wonders. Realising it is another thing lol.
