Title: Seeing your hands to LD or inside an LD
Post by: Pauli2 on July 28, 2012, 08:19:41
I'm quite unskilled in getting LDs, but I've tried to program myself before
bedtime by looking at my hands, my palms mostly.

Then when in a regular dream I may actually be watching "my" hands,
problem is that I don't realize that I'm dreaming. I have even been
able to realize that these hands doesn't look normal, I have had callus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Callus)
on my dream palms, and been wondering from where I got them. I
even have the idea that this seems very strange, and then I in the
dream conclude that I must have been working hard with my hands.

Result is that I don't go LD even when I see my hands!

And when I become LD I can't prolong the LD by watching my hands,
most of the times I can't even bring my dream-hands into view or
when I do, I wear gloves!

Rubbing my hands together (they feel solid) doesn't prolong my LD either,
when the LD fades and I wake up.

What have you done to go LD in regards of watching your hands and how
do you get to see them in LD?

Does rubbing your dream hands prolong your LD?

When you are programming yourself before going to bed, look at your hands and say to yourself: "I see my hands. Am I dreaming? This can be a dream, yeah. This is a dream ...." And add emotions to it (feeling happy and having a sensation of achievement, but not too much excitement). Emotion is what makes your programing work.

Read the Carlos Castaneda series.  That's how Don Juan taught Carlos to "dream".

You'll need to find something else to try, unfortunately.

It's more than just "rubbing your hands together" that strengthens and stabilizes the experience.
It's you bringing your Intent and your full awareness into the act.  Really FEEL all the many sensations that occur when you do it.

What this does is it brings your awareness into the experience and pushes away any sensations your might be receiving from your physical body.

Looking at my hands while non-physical usually has them melting.  This is a pretty strong tip-off that I'm not in the physical.  LoL

Doing anything which fully and completely brings your awareness into the reality you're experiencing will strengthen and stabilize that experience.
But it has to be more than just a "ok, I'm rubbing my hands together... what now?" kind of thing.

It's more like "Ok, I'm rubbing my hands together... feeling the sensation of the skin moving... I can feel the heat being generated... I can feel the roughness..." and bringing your awareness completely upon those sensations.  Now that I think of it, it's kind of like meditating, in that you're pushing away/ignoring the physical and giving your consciousness something non-physical to latch onto.  LoL

Sadly, someone recently mentioned to Pauli that Carlos was a fraud... so I guess he won't be taking anything from that particular author.
Which is a shame, because he obviously had quite the positive impact upon many people.  The idea of cutting yourself off from a source because of bias and opinion is quite egotistical in my opinion.  One might call it "moral grandstanding"?  LoL

Pauli, after reading this topic and commenting on it last night (my time), I had a lucid dream this morning and remembered your post in the dream. So I looked at my hands and I could see them. I rubbed them together while being forced to fly and it increased my lucidity and I got more control of my flight. I think I did it more than once, and the second time it prevented ending my lucid dream. It was the first time I was using this method. It was cool!

I don't do anything with my hands - I have to find an inner determination to utilize the dream and take control. I'll suddenly feel it's very important to gain full lucidity and then demand it, though until I do, I'm caught in the flow. I suppose it's similar to "clarity now!", but the feeling that it's really important is what makes it happen. It can just be hard to muster up that feeling when you're in the flow.
