Title: Sharing dreams
Post by: fuse on July 06, 2006, 16:24:05
I know this is a stupid question but i used to have a repeating dream when i was younger that i would stand at the top of my stairs in my house and jump all the way to the bottom, but i would never reach the bottom because the immense feeling of vertigo in my stomach would wake me up.
One day i told my mum about this dream and she told me she used to get the same, i also told a mate about about it and he used to get the same. I also had another dream of where i would be falling and yet again be awoken by the immense feeling of vertigo.

Has anyone else had a dream like this??

Yes.  I think it's quite a common dream.

I used to dream I was falling off a cliff and just before I hit the bottom, I'd wake up.

Also, lots of dreams of drowning (i.e. sinking into the water).  Just before I'd lose consciousness due to lack of oxygen, I'd wake up.

I think these are "death" dreams.  When we are young, we tend to wake up before we die.  As we get older, we can (and do) actually "die" in our dreams, but find we are still "alive".

Hmmm

Yea its very interesting, i have had the dream of running out of oxygen aswel, only to wake up realising i have been holding my breath and have to relax a minute to catch it again. I wonder if any experiences in dreams could be from past lives? Because before i had the dreams that i was falling i had only ever experienced vertigo when i was young in a car going over a bridge or something small like that, but the sensation in the dream was multiplied by about 10, so its strange that the mind can bring on a feeling that the body has never experienced to such an extent before. This means through the proper understanding of the mind, it is possible to bring on any emotion or feeling no matter how extreme?
