Yesterday I had a whole string of lucid dreams and possible astral projections (can't say for sure because I haven't been able to validate them yet).  I like being self-reliant, but for a change I decided to ask for my spiritual guide.  I was then 'reeled' up to a strange room and met whom I believed was my spiritual guide - a woman in her 50s wearing a shawl.  I asked her for advice about the occult and she said I shouldn't really pursue it because I don't have much potential!  But I pressed on, and she gave me two strange pieces of advice.  One is to "show no mercy" and the other I can't remember because I had many, many lucid dreams afterwards.  Have any of you experienced something similar?  Having a spiritual guide tell you that you are mediocre?  I am not upset about it or anything but I just found it surprising and strange.

I would never trust any spiritual guide without thinking twice. They are only here to deceive, you may get some good advice form them, but you will be manipulated in an unnoticeable way and you will be used for their own purposes. She probably said such things to steer you away from metaphysics. Maybe you are very talented and she doesn't want you to know? Or she's right? That "show no mercy" thing also concerns me. Think for yourself, and try not to become a pawn in someone's chess game...

That sounds like unusual advice.  Everyone has the same potential.  It comes from humans being what they are.  'No Mercy'?  That doesnt' seem like a 'guide', more like something else pretending to be a guide.  There are have been other postings about meeting 'guides' that weren't.  If you didn't feel an overwhelming sense of love in the presence of the guide, then it probably wasn't one of your guides.
There is a physical limitation upon how much light a human body can sustain. Interestingly, there is no limit on how much light a human vessel can generate. When fully enlightened you must instill your light in order to maintain its wisdom.

Thanks for your replies.  I am not really concerned about whether or not that entity was really a spiritual guide.  I am more concerned about whether that character was internally created by my brain or if it's a 'real' spirit/being.  Reality fluctuations can be such an obstacle.

Asif,
Either choice will draw you into a belief. It sounds like your keeping your options open.

Your question is a common one. No mercy can be taken two ways. A common one is lack of concern for others (or self). The other is the separate-ness one needs to evolve. For instance how do you think when you are alone. Do you draw others (such as family/loved ones) to you (as real)? Or....do you see them as separate enities or beings in another state of existence when not in your presence or reality?

Self disipline is important and real to me. Having no potential and yet you carry on shows this.Once one realizes the worst side (or lack), everything else is gravy.

As far as this being being self or another enity continues to be a mystery. You recognize it, it recognizes you.

For me, I recognize many others in part. They recognize me in part. It's putting the missing pieces together to learn more. I will know it when it's right (and a connection is real). In the mean time...for the most part I am very much alone. It's when I'm at my most material state I am at my happiest, ironically....I also blend into the crowd.I "believe" I have reached the end of my material road. Now....I just wait and watch. Everything else is pretty much "icing on the cake" (or gravy  )

I hope this makes sense. It's my take on it sooooo far.

I believe there are spirit guides. They too, are inner-woven (interwoven) in one's existence.
