Lucid Dreaming - Losing Control

Hey guys I've been practicing lucid dreaming on and off for a while now.

Last night I had another one I checked the clock multiple times it kept changing I yelled out "I'm dreaming!!!" and tried to fly but could barely get off the ground.

Then my feet were lighter and I started getting dragged around everywhere by my feet lol.

I tried asking my spirit guides to visit and everything was pretty chaotic I ended up waking up after about 10-15 seconds.

Clearly I need to remain more calm when I wake up in the dream :P


Any advice for me/techniques for once you become lucid?

I usually focus on my breathing and try not to get too excited. I'm able to maintain control for a while at this point. Another thing that others say works but I have yet to find helpful is demanding "Clarity Now!' or rubbing your hands together. Also I've heard spinning is supposed to help, but I end up losing control faster when I spin. I guess it varies from person to person, but like everything the more you practice the better you get. I've had lucid dreams since I was 8 years old, but only since this February or so have I been consciously trying to induce them and get better at it. I've gotten monumental results, last month I managed an incredibly vivid dream that lasted about what felt like 30 minutes. My best advice is to keep trying and learn the works of your own mind so YOU can understand how YOU can keep lucid.

 I learned in a completely different way. I started with nightly affirmations (which I still use today). I then saw that I could awaken in my Dreams consciously aware, but instead of taking control. I just observed everything, just like I did when I first began to AP. I was actually told earlier in my APs from a "Guide" of mine, to just observe, there will be plenty of time to question later.
So, I just watched my Dreams, like part of an audience. Once in awhile something I didn't wish to occur happened and I would then become a conscious Director and either change the outcome or go back and completely "rescript" the scenario. (If you do a search on Re-script, you will find previous posts I made on this).

I found that many of my Dreams were sub consciously based on something I either needed to work on in the physical or some kind of issue that I never dealt with in the past. Because of this, I allow many of my Dreams to go on just as they normally would.

But, other times, I become conscious in my Dreams and just feel in a fun mood. I just want to explore. I crave something exciting and in no time, I am involved in some kind of exciting adventure.

With practice you will just KNOW, you are conscious. You won't need any "Clarity Now" commands or any other reality checks.

It is VERY important though to keep a good Journal and to use it IMMEDIATELY upon awaking. Some times a quick bathroom visit is enough to lose your recall. Your Dream recall will get better and better with more practice as well.

One thing I do sharpen my focus is to walk/fly over to an object in the room and look at it very closely.  Sometimes it's just the wall!  I observe the patterns on it like if it's a stucco wall I look closely at all the little bumps.  Looking at something very closely always makes me feel amazed that the NPR is every bit as real as the physical. This is also very calming.  Your not trying to do anything or control anything and no one's around to distract you.  It's just you and the wall! lol.  After a minute of doing that I'm sharp, confident, excited and ready for an adventure.

Awesome great advice everyone.

I have been practicing with Stephen LaBerge techniques. Also have a journal but am always rushed to work in the morning then I usually write what I remember on a document which is rarely more than a few sentences by then.

Still I am remembering on average about 3 dreams per night now which is pretty good. Once my work is finished I will be able record in my journal as soon as I wake up every day.
