Generally, the definition of lucid dreaming is knowing that you are dreaming while you are dreaming. However, it is generally accepted by many that this must also include a conscious awareness during the lucid dream. In effect, that with a conscious awareness, one would be able to exert some control over what occurs within the lucid dream.
