the art of dreaming...

I have finished reading my third Carlos Castaneda book.  The one in specific that truly catches my eye is The Art Of Dreaming.  If any of you reading this post have read that book you would know that one of the first things that Carlos does is learn to sustain looking at objects in his dreams.  Has anyone on these forums attempted this method of reaching an OBE and if so have you come in contact with any of these 'inorganic beings' that then come to Carlos after he has mastered his dream awareness?
