I wrote down everything I remembered when I woke up in my journal, so I'll paste it in here. It's honestly sort of a blur now. I tried following up on it but I couldn't have the dream again to confront it. Any idea what might have caused it? By the way, I apologize in advance, I tend to be a bit vocal in my person journal, and I'm not sure if swearing is allowed... since I'm not insulting anyone personally... if there's a problem I'll black it out. I'll edit out what I can.

I went to bed earlier tonight, which meant I was in a shallow enough sleep to be woken up during a nightmare. I seriously now understand the purpose of the mind forgetting the dreams it does during the night.
It started off innocently enough. Some friends and I were manning a martial arts studio, and when a bunch of old people came (guess it was one for seniors) we were giving out pieces of paper with things written in big letters, sort of like doctor's notes or something but in reverse, which didn't make any sense. It's like your gym teacher giving you a slip telling your doctor you don't have to go. I'm not sure who was with me, I never saw anyone, just felt a general Ferris Bueler sense of ridicule, and that there was no isolation.
This ended when it the slips reversed to go the right way... and an old woman brought in a slip... which seemed strange to me. It wasn't an excuse though... it was a letter. A long one. As I read the letter, I noticed her edging toward me. The most I can remember is some crazy excrement like "my mother became a transsexual and moved to florida..." and then some details about how she needed money or something which I don't know how it was worded.
I was trapped... it was like I couldn't run away, my feet were frozen. This old woman...she may have had a hand on my arm but that wasn't what was holding me there. She said in this pitiful tone... "-anky!" (not sure what, sounded like Spanky! wherever that's from but it wasn't it, or maybe it was) and then....god I don't know what she did. It was like she was eating me...it was like she was biting my arm and chest and side at the same time but I didn't feel any teeth... I actually didn't even feel any gums... just like she was sucking me in, the entire side of me, it felt squishy and numb and it was being engulfed by this creature (it wasn't by just the mouth anymore... it's difficult to explain, I don't even really think I can picture it. It was the FEELING. God I still remember that feeling... totally a tactile nightmare) which didn't even make any sense at all... I was given a chance to go back a couple seconds and stop her before she started... so I tried stroking her hair gently and soothingly so I could quickly grab it to pull her head back, so she couldn't do this, to break her spell. It didn't work... and I had no more chances... then I woke up.
I swear, I don't think I could breath for about five to ten seconds before I let out a gasp of ended paralysis... This is seriously freaky. I don't think it had as much absolute terror and paralysis as the spider dream... but the sheer sense of violation and actually being CONSUMED and ... the wrongness of the whole thing... just makes it a lot worse for me. This isn't just some natural nightmare you'd have from being in a strange place, of a creature that's a natural terror to kids (face it, I like tiny spiders but I doubt I could play so easily with a huge 5ft one dripping venom from huge fangs). Now that I think about it... her hair... and maybe even some of her face... was just like my recently passed Aunt's. I was the paulbearer... excrement... f'ing freaky dream... this isn't a wake up in sweat nightmare... just wake up in helplessness. It wasn't terror that held me still... it was the old woman's power... I couldn't even scream, I couldn't shudder, I had no blanket to hide under.

That was seriously spooky.
And I have some bad news....
You know how you said you felt like you couldn't move, to flee. This is a sure sign that this is a "Face Death" dream.
The next time it happens (and I hope it isn't so gross) stop, turn, and Face Death.
The realization will be that you do not die. It may seem like you die but after a few minutes 'being dead' it will occur to you the paradox that if you think you are dead, then you are still thinking, and therefore still alive.
For me it was the Guard with the Mirror Glasses from the movie "Cool Hand Luke" -- he shot me in the back of the head. I turned to face him but when I saw him chamber up a bullet into that hunting rifle of his, I turned around so I wouldn't have to watch.
As far as Dreams go, it was a huge breakthru... for the next several night I was killed seven different ways and wouldn't stay dead... it became almost euphoric.
But still... your dream is creepyspooky in the extreme. Good luck!
So the Hag symbolizes death?
Quote from: TyciolSo the Hag symbolizes death?
Not 'Death'... because you will find that you cannot die... but she may represent your Fear of Death.
But you have made me think... whether the SLOW DOWN in escape is asking you to turn and die, or maybe just turn and fight. Long after my Death Experience in Dreaming I was attacked by an Old Female Monster -- her attribute was that if I would rip off her arms, she would grow new arms... many new arms... and if I ripped off her head, she would grow many new heads. She was a Hydra Monster. Well, the fight went on and on and on, and my only hope was that she would finally be depleted of energy, and that is how it worked out. When she finally tired, she transmuted into a smallish teenage girl... and she was pregnant. The Group of People I was with, who moments before were terrorized by her, now had compassion and we loaded her into the car and took her, and ourselves off for an icecream treat.
So, fight or die, but in any case you need to learn Fearlessness in your Dreams. Feel assured that whatever happens you will not die. The message in these dreams is that you are Immortal -- that is what you are being taught. Learn that lesson and you can be allowed to move on to the Next.
That's the thing though... I wasn't turning away, if I did it wouldn't have been more than a second. I was focusing on her head, her mouth, and just trying to dislodge her. I might have taken a step back, but there was nowhere to run to and I think I would have tried to fight her if I could move.
