a little kids dreams

my girlfriend's younger brother is 7 or 8 and keeps having as he calls "bad" dreams that wake him up periodically shaking in fear and all he will explain about em is its about words......what could this mean??

id like to add that i found out my gf shared one dream with him.....it was simply a dark room and she had a certain amount of time to finish a puzzle or something bad would happen(so she thinks she never finished the dream but had the feeling of fear if she didnt finish the puzzle in the allowed time)
