Hi All,
This works on many but not all participants.
So you are not scared of anything?
Your so tough you never cry for mummy?
Read on,
The purpose of sleep is generally known, but to have lucid dreams is mostly an enigma. However this state of mind can be achieved relatively easily. Its starts with sleep position. If you toss and turn this will probably fail. Relax as much as you can and find a position where both your legs are stretched out fully with your head looking straight up, as if standing and staring at something directly overhead. DO NOT MOVE FROM THIS POSITION.
After a few attempts you may stay lying this way when you fall asleep. Your worst nightmare will ensue.
You may find that forceing yourself awake from this is almost impossible, it isn't, its so much harder.
This position does or can create lucid dreams.
However if you are too chicken for this elect a person for this experiment.
This is basic info and certainly repeatable from this info.
Anyone wanna try?
If you suceed in this then I'll show you another one where its lucid and you can take control. This ones nice, very nice but first, no pain no gain.
Stand up and try this so you 'know' what I'm sayin'.
Best of luck.
Old timer.
It looks like inducing a WILD. Why do you think this will cause a nightmare? Or is this an attempt at suggestion? Just curious, is all.
oh yeah well i dare you to put your head down the toilet and flush it 3 times
hows that for a slice if fried gold 8-)
:NoY:
I spend every night in bed with someone with an insufferable case of RLS. If that doesn't give me nightmares, I doubt this will. But I'll give it a shot anyway, just for the fleeting possibility that something cool may come of it.
Within reasonable limitations, I'll try just about anything once.
Hi
Hey, shoving your head down a toilet, wow, Youv'e got serious issues, lol.
This is something that Has been tested on some of my friends. One in particular didn't like the dream. He said he'd never felt fear like it in his life and called me a total basxxxd. I don't see him around anymore. This one was from 1986.
There has been many others, some like the entrapment, others say What a bad night, I'm not sleeping like that again.
I've been shot, thrown off a cliff and hit rocks, drowned (not nice), Ive had all my family ripped apart and couldn't stop it, I've been fried from nukes machine gunned from an old ww2 aircraft (I was very ill and six years old at the time) ....
It goes on...
so extreme dreams do work for me only in this position. It works if you are slightly on your side too. Unsure if on your belly, you may suffocate, not too good an idea.
Try it, You'll go back for more eventually. I've done this for over fourty years, it works, its nasty, it gets at you for years sometimes, you'll never forget a bad one, scared, angry, total fear is all yours, go on give it a shot.
See where you come from.
There's more to this as you'll find out In a later post.
Enjoy your fears

Whenever I have a nightmare it's always in the same position but not the one you describe. Maybe it's different for everyone?
Yeah cause I just woke up after trying this last night and I know I had a dream, but from what little of it I can remember it wasn't a nightmare. There was one part where the floor of the house I was in was covered in about 4 inches of water but that's just more inconvenient than anything.
Great stuff, keep trying your head probably moved down a little.
I hope more try this. Stretched legs always allows me to remember the dream sometimes a little, others greatly.
good work.
I didn't sleep on my back for years as a child because it always seemed to trigger "the void" and overall negative experiences... still have my Indian dream catcher posted to the wall above my bed because of them, lol.
I will say the experiences I have on my back seem to be a lot more colorful than the ones I have in any other position. Interesting discussion, nonetheless.
The only problematic position I have is laying on my left side, but there's an obvious answer for that.
Hi All,
I tried again and started dreaming about being in my late grandmothers house and all hell was loose. There's two guys, one a deciever calling over anyone who'll come. The other is some seven foot tall, totally deformed humanoid of massive build holding two items. One a long hexagonal bar of metal around five inch thick and fivr foot long. The other, a smaller metal rod with a multi-hook at the far end.
They were totally unstoppable, and all hell bent on killing. By using the hooked bar to accelerate the hexagonal rod into each captives head from the top straight down until it split them in two.
I could hear the screaming, and the noise of the bones crushing. They were on the way towards me so I willed the cops to come. Yeah chicken I know, but in this position things are different. The cops were the silent movie ones. Black and white too, and saw the mayhem. Thry decided to chase me, this was getting out of control so I came out of it.
A bit gorey but it still works, if you stay in this state when things start to go out of your control, you will get some of your fears starting to be used.
It beats any film, as you know most of the characters. When its your family and friends being mutilated its a bit 'punchy' .
This is one attempt at practiceing the art.
You don't get injuries only memories. Its the best emotional training ground I know and I hope to find others that agree.
Thanks for your replies.
Yeah I tried again and was certain I fell asleep in the right position. I did have a pretty disturbing dream where my teeth were rotting out very very painfully (one of my most hated types of dreams) but I wouldn't call it my worst nightmare ever.
Also in another part of the same dream, I was at a club and took some kind of drug that induced a remote viewing type of scenario where I was at my house in the dream, but knew that my body was back at the club. I can't tell how much of it might actually have been a lucid dream or maybe I was just dreaming of lucid dreaming? Hard to say, but my confidence that there is more to this sleeping position is somewhat strengthened.
I'll continue to experiment with it.
Oh dude, I just remembered something. I was reading over this post to my boyfriend and it reminded me about something else that happened while trying to employ this sleeping position. I'm going to start a separate thread about it thought so I don't thread jack this one.
Hi
If its relevant, post it.
I'm interested in feedback on this for further studies. There's more to this still.
Thanks for the reply.

I've tried this. I've even induced a very deep form of sleep paralysis from this. Although night terrors occur in delta sleep (especially in children), the nightmares you speak of are very much subjective.
I did it the night before last and had wonderful dreams. So thanks for the idea.

I put it in a new thread (http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_astral_projection_experiences/advice_for_floating_body_parts-t34056.0.html)
Hi All,
@ Pharoah; Ok let me know the title please.
There's more about sleep positions that I've found maybe another thread is in order to keep on topic.
I would like to hear from others still as this is very interesting reading.
Good or bad, its all relevant. After 40+ years with a large break from communication with interested partied its going well.
This site is really great.
Thanks for the replies All.
The words "new thread" in my previous post are a clickable link to the other thread :P
Hi,
I use a mobile or cell phone, its text only and sooo basic in operation. No links pictures or even buttons. Its a small window but its open.
Thanks
Sent you the link in a PM :D
Since I was a kid the ONLY time I have nightmares is while sleeping on my back. Unfortunately this is also the only position (for the most part) that I can have an OOBE or LD. Would love a scientific explanation of this.
Happily I rarely have nightmares now and am willing to take my chances because OOBEs are so thrilling that it's worth the occasional scare.
scary movies gives me nightmares but me likes scary movies 8-)
Hey lexy, lift your chin as high as you can and tie it up there.
Dream on the dream, you can't get out, you'll remember it.
Then Youv'e been there.

Tie my chin up? Is that what you do? That doesn't sound comfortable.
(Comment retracted)
Ha ha, No way do I use anything so crude. You can get seriously injured that way, lol
If you meditate in this position first, with the intention of not moving as if your life depended on it, you can stay in this or any position until you fall asleep and for a while after.
There must be other ways of doing this, I know of a few tribes in Africa that sleep in the bush by holding their heads above ground with one arm. Its a means to an end.
Im sure more here know of the effects of sleep position. Personally I'm trying to find out how many others gain the effect of a bad dream and the ratio respecting nightmares.
It's been tested years ago and there's more in this site than last time by many orders of magnitude.
ok, I will try it out
Hi,
'Excellent', he said while rolling the ends of his moustache with wax. You must come for the excitement, it's sure to begin. 'You will soon see the light and beyond that ......'. He explodes into laughter, earpiercing with a shrill tone that even the castle foundations were made afraid. 'There's going to be another victim to my plan'. His grey bushy hair and large stareing eyes filled the moment with an uncanny madness. His victim asked
'Am I going to die'? Again the shrill cry emenating from him ended with him saying slowly in one word 'Yes'......
A snippet of what you can expect from this. It changes from normal to a kind of madness but this madness sticks. Things are almost as they should be, but there's a twist. A previous post in this thread had a comment on there being water on the floor, a twist, if a thought of drowning came about then being trapped and the water level rising may ensue. Nice way to go.
When it gets good there's a feeling with it, it's hard to describe, an atmosphere or ambience but its quite lucid and you remember it.
It may take a while for things to be in 'alignment', you'll know when this is.
Ivr tried to post a reply in a manner that you would not expect. At first you may of thought 'w t f ' but its only a twist from that expected.
Have fun.
Have success.
QuoteThis works on many but not all participants.
I must be one of those that it does not 'work' on. The described position and routine is how I normally fall asleep every night. I generally do not have nightmares.
The last nightmare I recall having was about 50 years ago.
But I don't get it...? Why would anyone want to induce a nightmare? Why not induce a pleasant dream?
?
Hi,
You are the first person to ask that question. When you're learning to face your fears it's usually rather unpleasant. It's also a way into lucid dreams. To have a pleasant dream, follow the previous but tuck your chin to your chest not stretched upward. I've tried this on many with various results. Those (20 %) or so in the past had bad dreams a few had a nightmare where they couldn't wake from it easily. It's during this time you become aware of the dream and can control things within. As you're in a stressed situation your conscious mind wakes and once you realise this it opens the door to 'get out'. As so many here are almost getting out, this may help somewhat. It obviously works for me every time regarding bad dreams and when they take that nasty twist you either wake or carry on.
There are a few who adopt this position naturally and they seem ok with it.
We are all certainly different.
Maybe its like a scary movie? Why not watch a inspiring movie instead?
Because some like the scare
Hi
In some respects it is. Its that much more powerful on your emotions. The added bonus is you get some control , which if you use to exit the dream you're in the 'zone of quietude'.
I tried a different position last night where, lay on my back with my knees raised almost in the sitting position. My head was halfway, looking forward. The dream never appeared, just the usual myriad of sounds, lights and thoughts. The most unexpected thing was that I had total awareness and was leaving my body, travelling through the house walls in a direction totally different to the usual. As this direction was bemusing it caused the wrong thought and back I went. Slowly and calmly too.
I'm trying this one again and will let you know if its similar.
Oh My, LOL! Surprise surprise, I forget where I came across this nugget it was a long time ago. But there is some evidence to suggest sleeping on your back can induce nightmares. But it isn't so much sleeping on your back as it is putting pressure at the base of your skull. It's got to do with blood flow and circulation. I have no recall where I came across this but it does indeed work.
I remember discussing it years ago with a totally non-astral type group. So it seems if you have a somewhat hard or stiff pillow behind your neck when you go to sleep that works. If not a rolled up towel. Just a little pressure is all you need, too much you will likely wind up with a headache. For that particular group (most of them tried it as a joke) only a few said it didn't work and all of them were side sleepers so wound up rolling onto their sides before sleep.
Creepiest 15 minute of reading. And that was not so long ago I saw this here lol.
It still works today, I fell asleep on a harder than normal surface with a thin pillow and woke up after mybody started dissolving. Wierd stuff, I was in the nightmare position so turned over and fell asleep without the wierdness surfacing.
Pressure on the base of the neck, interesting. Pressure on the high side of my head has brought on vibrations if no lower neck support is present.
The body is indeed strange.
