Title: Weird dream from this morning
Post by: VesAn on February 13, 2005, 17:32:59
Here's a dream I had this morning.  Might get long, so bear with me.

At the start of the dream, I realized it was a dream, and in fact, a nightmare I've had several times before.  Funny thing is, this is the first instance of a dream taking place in this setting/world that I can remember, but in my dream (with my dream memories/knowledge), I recognized this place and know it to be unpleasant.

I was on an island, I knew there was something nasty, an evil spirit of sorts, that comes out after dark to prey on anything on the island or the waters near it, but I also knew that I've never managed to make it off the island and hence had many nightmares (that I don't remember...) as a result.

So I was on the island again, and the sun was setting.

I begin to walk, try to get off the island, but I realized I'll never make it off at that pace.  So I took off and started flying with wings flapping on my back (perfectly normal, always had 'em in my dreams).  I was quite lucid, so I had very good control of my flight.

As the sun was setting I realized I'll never make it off in time, even at the speed I was flying.  Then an idea dawned on me; the evil thing on the isle does not like light, so if there's no sun light left, why not make my own?  As I have this thought I started making my own light, and I noticed two balls of light attached to my body, one on the horn I had on top of my head and one on the tip of my long, lizardy tail (huh!?  never had those before).

Anyway so even though the sun had set, I managed to get off the island safely, thanks to the balls of light I had attached to me.  I crossed over the body of water around the isle and arrived at a much larger land mass, I intuitively knew it was the "mainland".

I knew I had reached safety, but I was still slightly paranoid of the evil spirit from the isle tracking me down, so I did something to change my own "smell".  I remember thinking clearly in my dream, "I'm a mixture of water and air, but now I'll add in a bit of fire so that I'll be different from before, this way "it" can only track me down up to the point where this change occured, because it only knows my old "smell"."

After doing that I knew I was completely safe, and went on to fly around to explore the mainland, instead of choosing to try to have an OBE or other stuff I usually do in my lucid dreams.

What's interesting was that during the whole thing I was quite lucid, I knew I was not in the physical world the entire time, but I chose to participate in the dream and follow it's rules.  I also had very, very good control of my flight, I remembered distinctively to use not only my wings, but also my will to navigate my flight.

What was also interesting was most of the things I knew in that dream are part of my dream memory/knowledge, like the whole deal with the nature of the island, the evil spirit, what I "smell" like and how to change the "smell".

I've no idea why the heck I had a horn or a tail in my dream.  Also remembered a part where I saw my feet, and saw that they were kinda claw-like.

All in all, it was a cool dream, and when I woke up from it, I felt as if I really did accomplish something and that I'll never have another bad dream about that island and the creature living on it.

VesAn

That's a great dream - thanks for sharing.

I've recently been sort of lucid during my dreams, but not quite.  It's kind of hard to describe.  There is an awareness that I am dreaming, however, I'm not completely 100% lucid, but I am able to control what is happening.  Like you, I also tend to stay in the dream, rather than let it fizzle and have an OBE.  I think perhaps I'm wanting to learn things via my dreams, so I'm staying with them.

I still get the incredibly silly dreams, that you can't make head or tail of, but interspersed with those are these other near-lucid dreams.

Fascinating about changing your smell.  That's so cool!

Whatever the creature represented to you, I think you've put that one to bed, as it were, and it will never darken your door again!

Nice one.  :D
