Title: What does my dream mean?
Post by: clandestino on July 10, 2004, 13:10:58
Keeping a dream diary is widely regarded as being a great tool for developing your ability to recall dreams...It will also increase the frequency of lucid dreams you experience.

Its a hard habit to get into, though !

As for the meaning of the dream...I'm not sure. It sounds just like a scene that has been cut out of someone else's experience & dropped into your mind whilst you sleep ! Though the cannabis reference is confusing.

I'm not saying that IS what happened ! But it is something to consider, next to the accepted wisdom that dreams are merely the by-product of an active imagination "cleansing" itself whilst we sleep.

Try reading Robert monroe's 2nd book, "far journeys". He talks about experiencing short excerpts of past lives as part of a learning process whilst ObE...quite interesting stuff !

nrishiraj,
This is a basic dream message. Being a believer in Carl Jung, I have to take the psych route on this one. A little of my own maybe mixed in.

You start in a place of higher learning (symbol being the university). From this place you travel to your own turf. The back way is commonly used method of thinking for you, your memory. You are most likely a male, these other males are what is called your anima/animus/shadow. They represent what you fear, question, or in conflict about.

Bottles may represent messages received over a time period. These bottles are being used as weapons. A threat?
What can these bottles do? Harm or cause injury? Or is it the ones doing the throwing?

Two races, two cultures. One foreign, or are both foreign?
What does the foreign represent? Asian is often Eastern thought. White would depend on if you are white too.

Energy in action in the dream taking place in or around a store (energy store). What else is in this store?More possibilities, choices, options.

Cannibis may be a restriction placed on you someway. A block to what makes you feel good or relaxed. Your abiding by the rules, but out of fear or threat.

Your being forced or manipulated to be who you are not.

You have a conflict, you know what it is.

Intellect (negative/shadow) vs Emotion (youth- positive) working toward building on your higher self.

Have you ever read about the Individuation Process by Carl Jung? Although I don't follow it to the letter, you may find C.J.'s ideas quite interesting. Your dream fits this closely.I didn't necessarily interpret your dream according to the way Carl Jung's theories were intended.

More symbol ideas:
door- entering or returning back into something or somewhere.

back alley- dark side, dark place to maneuver familiar to you (your turf).

store- Where you can obtain something you need. Your building. Your mind, physical or otherwise? A source of energy?

bottle-A container for holding something, empty or full?

fight- conflict or duality.

dream characters- according to Jung.

trying to forget- Recognizing denial.

cannibus- open to interpretation

"Look, I can't allow..."- restriction placed, boundary issues

Thanks for your interpretation.

Obviously my dream is a bad one, what do I do to make it a good one?

Now that I have some idea what it means. What's my next step to Lucid dreaming? Shall I keep on recording my dreams in a journal and then check for dream signs?

Actually, nrishiraj, according to Jung, this is a very
normal dream. It's a step in the right direction. You
are developing your SELF, and this is a good thing.
You are working through some of these things as
expressed in your dream. Your dreams will advance to
good ones naturally. There is nothing in particular
you have to do to make it so. This is an excellant
dream, although it may not seem so to you, having to
experience it. It gets better. If it doesn't, I will
be surprised.

Allow yourself to be who you are. That's the message.
Sometimes one must hide things that are not intended
for others, and that's okay.

I believe in dream journaling. It's reminds the
subconscious to keep giving the information to the
conscious (awake) Self.

There are many suggestions about how to obtain lucid
dreams. Try the search section in the forum. I never
had to learn how, I just do. Connecting with your
dreams seem to be a good start, and your doing that
already. [:)]

Start a separate list for commonly occuring dream
symbols. A trend might develop. I haven't been able
to do this so far, but I haven't given up.

I'm starting to record my dreams in my dream diary. This is the one I had last night.

Date: 10/7/04

Time (woke up): 7:41am

What happened: Coming back from University in Bradford. I went through a back alley shop to go home. There was a bit of a fight between a group of asian guys and a white guy. As I was walking one of the asian guy came up to me and said to me "bro, when you walk down there tell them that you don't know anything" I replied and said "ok". As I walked over a white guy was throwing a bottle to the same asian guy and then to me. So I ran back to the shop where I came from. The white guy then followed me. As I came to the door and into the shop. He shouted behind me "Look I can't allow cannabis to be brought in here." I then said "I know" and walked to the front of the main entrance shop thinking trying to forget what had just happened.

Feelings / Emotions: fearful and anxious.

How vivid was this dream: I can't remember how it started or ended. But It was very vivid.
