Robert Bruce puts alot of time into the NEW energy work my question to the forum is why is it important and what does it do if you practirce energy work also how much time should be devoted to energy work and how do you know if your getting anything out of it. I tend to neglect the energy aspect of OBE entirely what could some of the negative consequences be from not doing it (if any).
Thanks

I don't think there would be negative consequences from not doing it. Things will still improve over time with practice regardless of doing energy work. I only suggest it to people that have a genuine interest in trying it. If you don't think it will work or sounds boring, then don't waste your time. If you're curious about, it doesn't take long to try it out and see if you want to continue.

Although I love this books, I thought his energy work was unnecessary (at least it was for me). That said, I was already physically and mentally in good shape and had been meditating, doing yoga and eating and sleeping well before I started having OOBEs so it depends on where you are.

Anything that moves you into a higher vibrational state and increases mental focus and decreases negative emotion (namely fear) will help you achieve these states naturally and with little effort.

Is that all the energy work does remove fear and raise to a higher vibration level. If that the case than my god the whole energy raising thing must be a scam because remove fear or going to a higher level is something one must develop on their own not by doing some sort of new age hokey joke.

It's a lot more complicated and detailed than that - there is also the concentration and bodily awareness that is involved, and if you believe in the subtle energies that practices like tai chi and yoga manipulate, it's the same thing. There is more to the practice than belief, it also takes concentration and discipline. When I'm done with a session of NEW, I feel really good - similar to the way you feel after a deep massage... the endorphins are on high, which puts you in a good mood and helps with your daily outlook and interactions with others. If you get that naturally already, cool! Most of us don't. And that's just the practical/immediate/daily benefits.

But again, I only recommend it to those that are drawn towards it. It's not for everyone.

It's explained in more detail at astral dynamics.

I agree Stookie that there is a physical component because your body will get in the way of total relaxation if you're in discomfort. I think this is why yoga is tied to spiritual development because it frees the mind from the distraction of the body being in pain/discomfort/misalignment. I'm also a big proponent of regular massages (and memory foam beds) for this reason.

I agree. I haven't read any of his books but I did read his Astral Projection treatise. He has a good understanding of the "astral dimension" as he calls it and his techniques have helped many. But I have never done any energy work and have had great experiences and Phase induction comes easy for me. I use the wake-back-to-bed-method and separate post vibrations most of the time.

One of my earliest experiences was quite profound (see Summerland revisited) and at the time I had just started. No energy work was done. All I've ever used was Robert Monroe's method described in his first book and that was enough to deliver satisfactory results.

I tried to put it mildly in case Robert Bruce is still around. I suspect this too but I'm not making any accusations in case I get sued. Ask Bruce about energy work and he'll probably advise you to buy one of his books. :-D

I think NEW energy work is extremely valuable for health and any sort of conscious projection and other things, but I'd suggest not doing it unless it's enjoyable for you.

I never even knew there was anything like energy work until after I had my first AP. I had been LDing for about 5 years, but only considered it some bizarre form of imagination and visualization. After my first spontaneous AP and then conscious OBE, they were so strikingly different, I ordered a bunch of books on the subject.

Robert Bruce's Astral Dynamics was the first book I read that jived with my experience (although I disagree with his split consciousness / memory download thesis). I don't think I've had quantitatively more LDs, APs, or OBEs doing energy work, but I know for certain that the length and intensity of those experiences have dramatically increased since I've been doing daily energy work.
