i don't think fasting for more then 2 days is good....for you...but if you did for three...thats good....bad for five...bad idea..... it could really hert you in the long run and short run....

kakkarot

congradulations on your cleansing via the fasting [:)]

but i would suggest that you wait a while before attempting another fast. (just my suggestion and not it won't neccessarily be shared by others).

good luck with it when you do it though [:)]

Hi,
Fasting is generally used to detox the body and with the use of helpul preparations available from health food stores, you can quite easily cleanse you body.  It is not a good idea to fast too regularly as it puts our bodies into survival mode.  Meaning it actually hangs on to body fats and other such things because it 'thinks' it is in a food 'drought'.

And your chakras can be cleansed in much safer and gentle ways.  You could try meditation and apply your focused attantion to the chakras to open them, spin them and cleanse out all the dross.  It is very easy and effective, taking around half to one hour to achieve.  At the same time you can bring in white light to power-up the cleansing.

Good luck.

Love Always.[:)]

just dont consume bad things, eat and drink things that come from the nature, only...

I was thinking of fasting for about 2 weeks the following way:

- I only drink&eat before sun goes up (before 7:00)
- I eat&drink when sun has gone down (17:00-18:00)
- I will only eat that from plant kingdom(fruits, vegetables)
- Meditate daily on my cleansing purpose

I'm also working about 6 hours / day with somewhat physical job.
But it shouldn't be a problem [:D]

Thing

you really dont have to do that... sorry but this looks a stupid way to get to something.

I wouldn't say it's a stupid way, not that you'd ever catch me fasting - I like my food too much![;)]

As with many aspects of ceremonial magic, fasting is a mechanism for focussing intent. It's possibly of more psychological benefit than anything else, but what it does is breaks a person's normal routine and adds an element of distraction (rumbling stomach can be pretty distracting) that forces someone who is fasting to focus more on their desired goal.

A person who is especially good at getting into a focussed meditative state probably wouldn't need to fast. It is a proven technique, though also purely a matter of personal preference.

Regards,
James.

Buddha sure didn't like it and didnt see much progress from it.

Mystic Cloud

A stupid way?!??

Haha, in what way is it stupid?

Actually I would like to point out that if you have never fasted, you can't say _SHIT_ about the whole process, except maybe from a physical point of view. Even from a physical point of view it is healthy as it gives your body a chance of cleaning out the toxins in it.

It also kind of pushes you more into the metaphysical realm.

Actually after a couple of days you no longer feel hungry at all.

Can't really say that it adds an element of distraction either.

In respect to fasting, its original meaning is to abstain from something.  When one engages in a food fast, they would obstain from eating food, whether in solid or liquid form.  To say that one is on a water fast would be saying that one is abstaining from the intake of water.  One could say they are on a food fast and just taking in water. Sometime we hear people say they are on a juice fast.  What they mean is that they are just ingesting juices, not abstaining from juices.

The best water to drink during a fast is either distilled or water from reverse osmosis.  Drinking tap water during a fast would be harmful.  Harmful anytime really.

The first food fast I went on was for 15 days.  The first 3 days was a little difficult, but after that I lost all desire to eat. When the appetite returns, that is when one should eat again, and very selective eating is advisable, such as soft foods that are easily digested and eliminated. If one doesn't eat when the appetite returns, the body will begin to digest muscle. Many people fast on a regular basis to control body weight, since on an extended fast, fat tissue is digested and dissolved.  However, adipose tissue found behind the eyeballs never seems to be involved and is preserved inspite of starvation.  This was observed in those that starved to death in prisoner concentration camps.

An extended fast should always be supervised so that any physical symptoms that arise can be observed and monitored.  Then the person fasting can relax and not be concerned.

I found fasting to be very beneficial.  The energy that is used for digesting food can be utilized for healing.  It is a way of giving the digestive process a rest, which in most people is working all the time.  With many people as soon as the stomach is empty, they interpret the sensation as hunger pangs and begin to fill the void again.  In that case, there would be a psychological hunger rather than a physical hunger.  I doubt that many people living in North America have experienced true hunger, with exception of those in extreme poverty.  Even those are being cared for by social welfare groups.

I would not advise anyone to start out on an extended fast.  Many people cannot even miss one meal without being physically and emotionally disturbed. So it might be advisable to miss a meal with the purpose in mind of slowly extending that to one day each week. Then one could keep extending it, not to exceed 5 days at the most.
A friend of mine, a teacher of nutrition, went on an extended fast for 30 - 40 days, and she died in hospital. Her liver poured out so much toxin that her organs of elimination shut down.  Her skin was yellow and jaundice set in.

After the 15 day fast, I did 5, 3, 1 days with a short interval between them.

Fasting is a wonderful way of developing will power which is very much needed in overcoming addictions of various kinds or mechanical habits which prevent a person from experiencing a full and vibrant life.

Wow this is very interesting.[:O] I have a few questions.

1.) I have never done a Fast and i was wondering how to go about doing it? what foods to eat when you do get a apitite later on & what to meditate on while your fasting.

I am a VERY pickey eater (but i do like a lot of fruits :)) and have gone a few days withought eating(not on purpose i just wasnt hungry lol).

2.) Does fasting decrease your overall hunger afterwords?
Dont look at the world around you with your eyes, use your soul, and you will see more then you have ever imagined.

Ryu-Kanjin

oh sorry lol what foods should i eat after fasting to keep my body pure?

You must first decide the length of your fast. Then you start a few  days before getting used to not eating so much. So you get used to
it. You must also decide what kind of fast you want to do.

I think that the pure water diet fasting is the most harmful for
your body, but will probably take you to the highest level of
consciousness, because it sets you in survival mode and starts
burning everything you have in store in your body (if you are a skinny person it starts burning your muscles after the fat has been burned).

Having a water diet is good for a couple of days but wouldn't do it for longer than 2 weeks, as it can harm your body. I'm myself doing right now a yoghurt/fruit fast. Eating some fruits and a bit sallad and then drinking much everyday. Was thinking of having a few days where I abstain from food completely.

Atleast after having a longer fast you must be careful to accustom your stomach to eating again. You can't just start devouring everything in your way [:D] So you must probably take a few days getting back to your normal food routines, by eating light.

When your stomach has gotten back then you can go and eat pizzas and hamburgers [}:)]

We are lucky in Finland when our tap water comes from FRESH lakes
with FRESH water [:D] So it is not a big step away from spring water!

Actually drinking freshly distilled water shouldn't be that
healthy, if I remember correctly from my chemical lectures. [:D]

It has got more Ions in it than normal water and those rip apart your chemicals inside yourself. Actually if you get enough Ions in you, you die [xx(]

As i said on another topic about food, fasting is good for energetic purposes as digestion takes a large amount of vital energy in the process. By fasting you allow this energy to be used elsewhere (chakra work, kundalini etc). But food is nevertheless necessary for our body [;)], i won't suggest more than 3 days of fasting for energy purposes as this is totally sufficient. To fast a fixed day in the week is however a good thing as it helps to purify the body of it's toxins. Drink a lot of water during that day to help elimination of those :) It gives some rest to the digestive organs, which is very good for the whole body.

No problem ;) However if you don't have a specific energetic goal i won't do the 3 days each month if i were you, it's better to do it one day a week, like sunday for example, as you don't usually do a lot of physical activites on that day (no work or school). Doing it a day a week also helps the body to get used to it and prepare itself to do so during the days before, so you won't get too hungry.

www.quickfasting.com I used this site as a guide when I fasted my first (and only time) a couple months ago for 5 days.  Hunger isn't even an issue while fasting, well it wasn't for me.  I just went along with usual life, without meals wasting my time, haha.

If any of you guys disagree with any of the the content of that site, please bring it up as I don't know how much of it is accurate myself either.

Well now, what is THIS world I stumbled upon?

Thanks for the link ! I'll read that carefully.

Done :) I read the downloadable version of the book. I found it really interesting, and with some humor in it, which is not bad in this subject [:D] I advice everyone wanting to start a fast at least to have a glance at this treatise as it gives good tips. Thanks again for the link ;)

I've fasted several times, for full 3 days with no food and only H20 and i must say it proved to be of great benefit towards my spiritual development. During the fast i could actually feel miasms in my body unwinding, that is i could feel PHYSICAL vibrations. I've got some heavy neg problems and blocked chakras and whenever i cleared  mental and emotional blocks i could actually feel immidiate physical effects in my body! It felt like dense fragments untied itself.

Anyway i was wondering if i should take it up to 5 day fast... gotta get those chakras cleared

By the way, you guys know any other techniques to raise energy while fasting?
