Distance/remote reiki healing? help please!

Hey, I wonder if somebody has experiences in distance reiki healing?
I read somewhere that reiki healing can be used for everything, even cars and food.. is that true?

Me and my girlfriend have a puppy, he's 15,5 weeks old Collie.
He is right now at the vet as we think he got "Canine distemper virus", an encephalitis.
Because of that, he has been blind and surely are in pain (well, vet gives medecine like morphine and other stuffs to not make him suffer from pain and so).
They have given him cortisone for like 2-3 days now, and it has start to help abit. But still, he seems to be blind and we're worried he will stay so for rest of the life.

I wonder, would reiki healing help him?
Anybody here who would like to help?

Also for you who has experiences or know any much about reiki healing (distance). How to learn it? does it work to learn it by internet (reading PDF books, or anything like that), or does it require a reiki master teacher in order to make it work effectivity?

He was getting better yesterday before I wrote this message.
Now though, he don't get any better and today, we need to take him away.

 I'm sorry to hear that. Last year we had to put 1 of our dogs to sleep and the other one died of old age.
