A question. When you say that we cannot put things that aren't energy body development you are not cutting out ki. Perhaps what you are trying to get rid of is the filth of those who believe in radical extents of ki as opposed to those, such as I, who keep the traditional taoist beliefs, but adding a scientific point along?

Although I'm not very fond of radical ki. I believe that people who like anime should use it to broaden their persepctives and imagination, if that's what motivates them, but not to base their practice soley on the show. It's important to discover things for yourself, when you become more attuned to energy realize that any attack invented is just pure creativity with energy manipulation; techniques aren't needed.

My true and sincere thanks, Adrian. That was really getting on my nerves. I wouldn't mind one or two, but when it gets to the point where these types of posts are running rampant, something definitely needs to be done. Maybe a couple stickies should even be made in the new area, just to curb things a bit.

Erm...
We kind of have to, you closed down the energy forums...
Does this mean we should now make posts concerning chi balls etc. here?

I would think that as long as your posts have to do with the development of the energy body (like chakra work, auras, strengthening your energy centers), then it's ok to post here.

However, to talk about certain techniques to make ki balls and other DBZ related topics, it will get deleted and it won't be tolerated.

This isn't something we're doing to tinkle people off.  It's just a collective decision amongst the administrators of this board in order to clean up a lot of rampant activity, the majority of which was coming from this particular forum.

If you have any other concerns, you can bring it up to one of us moderators.  Otherwise, I can probably help you find other sites which you can use to post things related to energetic balls.

Psi/Chi/Ki/Qi balls etc. aren't DBZ related, except to idiotic prats who believe everything they see on television - and in a CARTOON!  If we can't post about that sort of thing here, where can we?  What ought to be done is to keep the Energy forum, and have a DBZ forum.  Then, if a post even MENTIONS DB, DBZ, DBGT, etc., etc. outside of that forum, it should be deleted.  It should be one of the things moderators look for, along with swearing and that.  That way, everybody gets to discuss the thing they want to, without little kids going around pretending to kamehameha everyone on the forums, which is indeed incredibly annoying.  But we do need an energy forum, or somewhere we can post about psi, psionics, etc.  It should also be made abundantly clear that DB is FICTION, and has little or no connection with real psi.  Maybe if it was added to the licence agreement that people should only use each forum for its designated topic.  Also, there should be an "Off-Topic" forum for things that don't fit into any of the forums.

Wow, Crystal, are you seriously going to start this argument again?  Please, drop it, anything cartoon related shouldn't be posted here anyway, thats what the discussion forum is for! Why are people so confused about that?

Yeah, that's true, sorry...  but I don't see why mods can't just go around deleting DBZ posts... they would delete a post with swearing or something, DB should just be given the same sort of priority.  DB posters should be warned and have the offending post(s) deleted.

We do. They have been.

We will no sooner tolerate DBZ in this forum than we tolerate someone in the psychic defense forum talking about things they've seen on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or references made to Charmed in the Magic forum.

Energy work is about reaching states of enlightenment, and expanding psychic abilities. In fact the latter should not be seen as a goal in itself, but more enjoyed as a useful side effect. You need greater than the normal everyday levels of energy to allow your perception to take in the higher realms and access higher knowledge. If people don't find the real thing as entertaining as what is portrayed on TV, they're in it for the wrong reasons.

Regards,
James.

The Astral Pulse is not the only place for these conversations you know...

A Google search yielded multitudes of separate forums concerning that with which the "kids" here enjoy to converse about.  Feel free to chat about it there.

The problem with that section was the posts were becoming nonsensical gibberish.  One-liners simply saying yes or no, or I agree and the like.  Topics would reach 4 pages in a single day simply due to the volume of these off-topic general conversations happening within the topic itself.

And of course, these posts were spreading outside of the energy forum itself.  This bothered the lot here that did not want to see this happen.

quote:

And of course, just so you know, by simply visiting the main forums page there is a line underneath the forum section stating what should be talked about within that section.  Looking closely reveals

"Astral Chat is for members to chat about things generally, and to get to know each other. Almost any subject is permissible, provided always that usual forum and Internet protocols, ethics and netiquette are strictly observed. enjoy!"

Not to play the devil's advocate or anything, but just becaue you or your friends try something without any results, doesn't mean that it's fake.

Personally, I don't profess to know anything about ki, but I am applying your logic to something I do know, and that's OBE's.  If a person (or a group of friends) tried it and then nothing happened, that wouldn't mean that they don't exist.  It just means you were unsuccessful at achieving the desired results.

Just to let you know I do know a bit about ki. Ki is the fundemental energy in all humans animals and plants. I know you should all know what the etheric body is. That's the energy body in which the ki flows through. The word "ki" is roughly translated into "spirit energy." Make what you will of that little introduction.

This is amazing. Thank you so much mods and Adrian!

I can finally go back to reading the energy forum posts without the childish bantering about television shows that was ever so present.

Hey, does anyone know if Tom or Frank is ever coming back?

Frank and I used to post a lot together a few years ago on this forum, and like everyone else, I looked up to him.  However, I ended up taking a break from the Astral Pulse for over a year, and in that time, Frank actually wrote me, seeing how I was.  This was probably 8 months ago.

Well, now I'm back and Frank is the one missing!  I wrote him two emails over the last two months, just to let him know that we're all thinking about him, and to see if he was OK.  Unfortunately, I never got a response.  [:(]

Yes yes all that is good and great and all, and im glad the "filth" is now wiped clean...but, is it possible....I take martial arts and the only think remotely close to any of the things I see in "DBZ" that I can do is moving things with an exert force.  THats about the only thing I can do, and Ive gotten pretty good at it.  Ninjutsu really expanded my knowledge and abilities in the "Ki" area.

I've had a very similair problem like this on a video game forum I used to help maintain. The forum-goers were rather mature (most were 20+ years old), but then one day it suddenly just started going down the gutter. What happened was we started having problems with new people not posting seriously, off-topic posts everywhere, people acting immature, or posting with spamming one-liners, etc. It was spreading like a plague. We found the root of the problem, it was the DBZ subforum. When it comes to anything that is mostly the territory of children, (Now, don't take this the wrong way, there is nothing wrong with DBZ in and of itself, and nothing wrong with adults watching cartoons or playing video games, soceity norms are changing, and cartoons/video games are not just for kids anymore, I've watched a few episodes of DBZ myself and liked it) you also tend to experience some immaturity, in other words, it goes with the territory, and from this is where problems start, and unfortunately spreads.

On the subject of Chi/Ki, no it's not fake just because you didn't see results. You were probably looking for immediate results. Energy work is not something that is synonymous with the word "immediate". It can take months, years, even lots of years, to get any real kind of results. On the subject of radical Ki, I don't think real energy works the same way you see it being used in cartoons, and even if it did, let's say there's a slim possibility that it could be real, I don't think that it would be possible at least, for the human's 3rd density physical and etheric body, to be able to tolerate or sustain the things you see in cartoons.

FistOfFury made a good point of how forums go downhill, and since we want this one to return to all its glory, we have closed down a section of the forum, thus removing the major attraction for such conversations.

But, that doesn't mean one-liners and offtopics are acceptable either.  I haven't read this topic in a while, but upon returning I find this:

quote:
do you know how to use ki

(Guilty Party)

Not only does it not say to post about it in the topic sentence, the topic post, but even posts thereafter, making the whole topic one big warning.  Doesn't stop ya.

quote:
maybe frank's dead

Doesn't get more offtopic than that.  And it's only three words.

quote:
Im selling DBz games at (URL)

Even more offtopic, and improper.  You shouldn't advertise your site here for your own profit.

I went ahead and deleted these posts, but quoted them as a reference for what not to do.

Thank you for being another voice of reason about Qi.  I write this huge, helpful post about it in the "Energy as a Weapon" thread and the first thing I get in reply is a sentence that I'm not even sure if I read it right (it had something to do with "firing" Qi and how I'm wrong or something).  I mean, I have more than my share of typos, but crap like that is a bit too much.

You should head over to that thread if you haven't already.  Maybe two voices of reason about Qigong and about combat overall might sway people in the correct direction (as in not DBZ).

Well, I suppose most of the things in DBZ could happen, IF you were patient (or possibly stupid) and long-lived enough to sit on a mountain somewhere doing nothing but practice for about a century or so.  Personally, I think I prefer having a life. [:)]

I do not believe that Adrian is saying anything against Ki which in actual definition is the same as chi prana energy, etc.
The reference made refers to the posting of ideas derived from cartoons and other posts that only have selfish base ends.
There is no offense meant to your cherished belief of the ancient taoist way.
Hope this clarifies and you are not offended
Please do not be so hard on the youths they are simply on a path to learn like all other humans and as a matter of fact the ridiculous cartoons everyone speaks of have some fundamental underlying issues that directly relate to energy.

All that said Thank YOu Adrian
 kudos for stopping those posts
but remember we were all young once and these adolescents will go somewhere else to post.  Will it be as positive as the Bruces' site.

Has anyone considered that beside the obvious year of irritation from those posts that ancient practices often involve energy release through the hands or finger tips.  And if this is so what is to be said of posts that describe ways to concentrate and release energy through the hands...
I do not mean to be dissagreeable at all I simply feel a little guilty about being so happy about the termination of those rather ridiculous posts

Greetings everyone,

Please note that this forum is exclusively for the purposes of discussions related to energy body development and associated matters.

Astral Pulse has no specific problem with Dragonball Z related topics per se, however, such topics are well outside of the charter of these forums, and accordingly are not permitted here. Any such posts will be deleted by a moderator.

A search on the Internet will locate many Dragonball Z related websites and forums.

Thank you.

With best regards,

Adrian.
