A little question... about a thing that I'm trying to understand since 1987!

Hello all, I need some explanation from you about something that happens to me since I was a little boy.

It's very simple, when I was a child, sometimes I had a feel of a consistent sensation of "energy" flowing up through the entire width of my vertebral column (is this the english for "colonna vertebrale"? :?), it was something like a thrill sensation, but it was not unpleasant anyway.

Through the time, playing with this strange phenomenon to find how to have control on it, because it was really interesting to me, I learned how to make this phenomenon appear at my will, simply desiring for this "energy" to flow and "pulling" this "energy" from the base of my vertebral column.

My question is: what is that? Is it really energy? Is it harmful?

I never cared too much about this "funny" phenomenon, but now that I'm approaching with spiritual things, I'm searching for answers, and I know that this is a good place for searching  :-)

Thanks in advance to all who will reply!

Sometimes I get shivers when I hear something that means something to me spoken a loud. Watching a sunset or a clear nights sky can have the same impact at times.

I'd say to begin with it is energy and it's not harmful.

It sounds like you are describing energy sensations. The chinese call it chi. If you focus on it, you should be able to sense it all throughout your body, not just your spine (the common English word for vertegral column). If you stop and lift your hand, looking and paying attention ONLY to one of your fingers. You should, if you are attuned enough, be able to feel energy accumulating in it. With practice you can do this anywhere in your body -- it's called moving energy.

You may want to do some reading on tai chi and chi kung. Both deal with this type of stuff. Yoga works with prana, which is breath, but generates similar energy sensations as well as sensitivity to feeling energy. So that may be another thing to look into.
Reality is what you perceive it to be.

I used to be able to do that since I was 6 yrs old.  its almost like an adrenaline rush.  I am able to turn it on without any direct emotional thought, but the sensations are increased when I link an emotional "story" or "image" to it.  Also, there seems to be several different layers or levels, each noticably different.

For me some of the strongest sensations occur with an emotional story of served "justice" or the general defeat of "evil".  But the harmony in a sunset or being with that special someone works great too.
