They aren't.

I think of it more like a choice of aplication.

Same energy just different uses.

Hi All
In my own experience, the energy does feel different.  I'm no expert but  I've practiced a couple of different energy therapies and they all feel different to me  in self-treatment, giving or receiving it from others. I've not tried NEW but have used  qi gong, Reiki, TT, Jin Shin & I've received a few more than those.
Not only does the energy feel different to me but it seems to work on different levels of the energy system.

My apologies Tom,  I misread the question---I'll shut up now ;-)

D'you know, I don't find them too different at all.  In fact, the problem of getting up in the morning was one of my primary motivations for learning energy techniques.

I find that after a 'good' energy session, I'll have a lot more get-up-and-go than normal.  Profoundly more, in fact.

One thing I can offer is this: If I do a session with a lot of NEW work on my legs, anywhere up to my coccyx, then tends to give me more 'get out of your chair' energy.

If I work more on my arms say, I tend to get a mixture of feeling better emotionally, and feeling angry.  This is a question of emotional balance that I'm still working on.

The interesting thing is that if I do a lot of leg & abdomen work and avoid my arms & torso, as I've often been tempted to do, I end up jumping out of my chair with absolutely no idea of what to do with myself, like a fidgety two-year-old.  All jazzed up and no place to go.

So over time, I'm learning how much every single experience is coloured by the quantity and qualities of your energy, and also how you'll only be happy when you've got a balance of them.

Hey-ho, that's life.  Fun, ain't it?  http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile_wink.gif" border=0>

It is the other way around for me. The more I raise energy the less I feel like moving my body. Even breathing seems not to be worth the effort when it is easiest to connect with energy. It isn't that I feel bad, but instead that I feel stuck to a heavy, inconvenient body. It would be nice to have more energy of the variety to move about and get things done in the physical world.

I think, our personal will plays a big part here... even if there might be no real difference between these two types of energy.

You mentioned energy provided by NEW, Reiki, Chi Gong etc. In siddha yoga there are supposed to be five different "pranas" which have all the task to sustain life. They have special tasks to help and serve us and as universal energies they are doing this in a pretty independent way. You might think. We are influencing them a bit all the time. Most of the time unconsciously, just in the way we are and what we want. Of course, if you are highly aware and trained, you can influence and handle these energies also consciously by will, like creating a "hot energy ball" and heal someone with it.

The other type of energy you mentioned is the energy we need to go out and so on. Like getting up in the morning they are needed for tasks, which seem to require a lot of mental energy sometimes. They don't have to.
I mean, for example, we can be fully awake and are still unable of getting out of our bed, cause we hate our job, the university or what ever. What is required here is just either a bit of will or an empty mind. We cannot do anything against our will, if we are thinking about a task rationally, or it takes huge amounts of energy. But we can use a trick: Stop the thinking and thus the blocking energy thoughts are removed as well. That means, you are stopping the pros and cons in your head and just jump out of the bed.

What I want to say is: All the things you mentioned in which you accomplish goals, they are relying on a form of energy too. But a kind of energy which is very much related to us, to our critical mind and to our will. This type of energy can be easily expressed, if it is according to our will. If that is the case, it just floats. But that isn't always the case. We are much more used to this kind of energy ... in collecting, shaping and forming it. In spite of the fact, that we know less about it.

I think the difference is, we influence energies like prana usually in a more or less indirect, subtle and weakend way. A way in which our will can never be a hurdle.

Yes, thank you, Breeze. That clarifies things for me very well. It even seems to apply to what I hope to accomplish with astral projection. It also shows to me that my will is stronger than I had realized and that this is what I have been fighting all along. It is more involved than just a deficiency of energy. It is a conflict.

breeze

There is more to it than a conflict. It seems like something else. You wrote, that the more you raise energy the less you feel like moving your body. Even breathing seems not to be worth the effort.

If I don't know what to eat, having the feeling, that I have tasted everything, there is nothing tasty and yummy anymore, nothing I desire, in that case I just eat nothing for a while. Some time (more sooner than later) a special appetite pops up. Another method are just a few looks in very good cookery books with very authentic pictures.

Let me use a quite vivid example for this. Imagine yourself as a ship and and the world and life as the ocean. In your case you have a great crew which is very experienced in keeping the ship in a proper condition. It repaires every defect and tunes up every part for more efficiency, just to be able to weather every storm or crisis.
But what seems wrong is, that there is no helmsman or captain on the bridge who sets a course. He might be off duty in his quarters or just standing inactive behind the rudder.

So you can ask yourself, why is he inactive or off duty? If you don't know, show him some destinations (cookery book). If that doesn't help, give him a straight order, that he his temporarily suspended. After a while he might remember what his job is and were to head for and desperately wants to be employed again.

Try this out, you can even stop breathing for a while. ;-)

breeze

Something which has been of interest to me is the difference between energy as provided by reiki, NEW, chi kung, polarity therapy, etc. and the kind of energy people use to get up in the morning to go to work instead of going back to sleep. The kind of energy that people use to go out and accomplish goals instead of sitting in a chair in front of a computer on the internet. The kind of energy people use to really feel alive instead of just barely able to move. Why are the two kinds of energy so far from each other?
