Their Chi-kung movements are pretty effective. They postures to open all the meridians (chakiras) throughout the body. Move it up and down the body on the vertical axis, circulate it with "fulan heavily circulation" which is basically the practice of greater circulation but using your hands to guide the energy rather then just your mind.  They have a few standing chi-kung postures which feel pretty good, and a sitting meditation.

All and all these guys try to make them selves sound really special, but it is really just good chi-kung mixed with elements of Buddhist and Taoist philosophy, mixed with some original ideas from the leader of the organization, packaged up in the form of a personality cult.

Not to say that personality cults are bad, but they have a tendency to do some mind bending on people. I do recommend trying the exercises though, because they are easy and good for you health.

Not really.

It is simply a very old spiritual cultivation lineage. It is a traditional chinese spiritual cultivation school. China has some very ancient traditions and one is falun gong.

But even still, the knowledge of true qigong is not widely known and the high levels are not taught to all that many people throughout past history. To teach traditional true enlightenment publically like this is a huge deal which couldn't be done in the past. I just think to say " all it is is qigong" is a little bit of a contradiction and kind of funny.

It's not connected to the buddhist or taoist religions, it is older culture.

There's nothing to do with anyone's personality. The Great Law is the teacher, there's only god and god's will and universal law. An enlightened being's purpose is to do the will of the universal spirit and principle.

Kilik you could be right.  My last post was based largely on the bad experience that a friend of mine had with fulan dafa, and some of the bad press about them that is on the Internet. But I have tried the movments, and they basically chi-kung moves from what I can see. As far as fulan philosophy goes, I have to plead admit i'm pretty ignorant of it (as well as the higher level pracices). I have to admit all the negative press I managed to dig up about it discouraged me from pursuing it any further. If you put "fulan-dafa" into google.com it isn't all peaches and cream...But reading your post you have made me curios to investigate it further. So, yes it was probably wrong of me to discount fulangong as just chi-kung since it has another spritual/philosophical component that I am not familiar with.  Kilik you have inspired me to research the who subject further to get to the bottom of it!
