I was circulating around my right hand pretty much on my own (not really following the exercises) and when I got to going down on the middle finger side of my forefinger, when I went to the big knuckle a flash of red suddenly flashed across my vision, so I stopped.
I normally wouldn't take much from it, but I DO crack my knuckles a lot, and have been getting pains in my fingers from a combination of that, typing, and lack of rest. It's usually more in the ring than the fore though, so it's probably just my imagination.
Dear Tyciol,
Have you studied Reflexology? The premise there is that every part of the feet and hands correspond to a part in the body. In your case, that some of your fingers are sore indicate that there are pathologies and energy blockages in the corresponding parts of your body. I forget quite what parts of you body would be ailing; however, the remedy would be the same in anycase -- you should massage your fingers where they hurt, and also massage the same corresponding toes in order to clear the 'flows' from that end also.
Also, even after the present condition clears up, it would not be a bad idea to set aside some time everyday to massage your hands and feet, in order to keep the rest of your body always in tip-top shape.
Nope, haven't studied it. The idea that there's a point in the foot corresponding to every internal organ and body part has always seemed a bit strange and unbelievable to me, but a lot of yoga guys do seem to think it's true... so I guess I could test it.

I have to go to Mass right now, but when I get back I will try to dig around On Line and find a Hand Chart, or Foot Chart which shows the Correspondance between Hand and Foot and the Parts and Organs of the Body.
But generally, the wisdom is that if you find a sore or tender spot, just massage it out. If you keep it up everyday, then you should remain healthy.
It is important to keep it up. I stopped massaging my feet for a while and my left leg suddenly became arthritic and I haven't been able to shake the soreness.
Wow! I'm surprised... its getting harder and harder to find anything for free On Line nowadays, but this site has a Reflexology Chart which you can even cut and paste over to a Word Processor Document.

Oh, and about Reflexology... I've studied Jin Shin Jytsu and also Reiki, and the inside scoop is that everyone acknowledges that all those same healing points, all over the body, can be accessed from points on the hands and feet... if the Therapist knows what he or she is doing, which is always the case.
Cool thanks, this is a lot easier to read than the one in my Yoga book.
How old are you? It seems strange that you developed arthritis like that... do you think the body became reliant upon the foot rubbing and thus developed that as a 'cold turkey' to dropping it, or was it just the only thing staving it off (or slowing it down)?

I became an Athelete late in life... in my fifties I took up long distance running and actually became a contentiously competitive marathoner. In addition to the running workouts I would also do some resistence lifting with me legs. that may have hurt me.
But there was this mysterious happening that occurred during one of my Pre-Marathon long distance trials. I started out while it was still very dark and passably cool at 2 o'clock in the morning, and I had circled around the town and was coming back toward home as the Sun was rising in the sky ahead of me, when, all of sudden, it was like a bolt of lightening struck my left leg -- starting up toward my hip and extending down to the knee. But as fast as it struck, was as fast as it was over. I chalked it up to being a nerve spasm, or something in that order. But as the years went by the pain seemed to soak in and solidify.
I am reminded of a story I once read about the Blessed Virgin who has appeared many times to Her Saints in the Church. She and one of Her Chief Angels happened upon this very pious Parish Priest who had recently performed a worthy act of Penance, and so She asked the Angel to bestow upon the Priest a Sign of Her Grace. Then, paradoxically enough, the Angel took his sword and stabbed the cleric in his leg and made him lame for the rest of his life. Now, whenever I find myself limping around, I wonder whether it is some mysterious Grace.
