Perhaps learning gTummu Reiki would do the trick, although it's a bit of a sidewalk.
I remember once when I was little, me and my school class was walking outside in the winter and I was really concentrating on getting warmer, a couple of minutes later I had to stop since it felt as if I was almost burning up. It's nice to be warm and cozy.

In yoga they say breathing through only the right nostril(sun) makes you hot and brething through only the left nostril(moon) makes you cold. I never tried it but would welcome your "report" on what 10 minutes blocking the one or other nostril with the finger and only breathing through the other one would do. I mean sometimes it gets really hot in summer and this would be useful. I read sometimes stories about these yogis sitting half naked in the snow and it melting under them because they were so hot. I know NEW gets me a little warmed up but hey I cannot run around in shorts in the winter either although that would be a really cool trick.

I have used with great success many times a yoga technic to warm up the body. The technic uses the breathing called "perforation of the sun" (suryabhedana  pranayama), along with jalandhara bandha (a physical posture) while concentrating on manipura chakra.
Here it goes :
Sit and relax. Concentrate on the manipura chakra and say from you deepest voice it's mantra "RAM". Say it again and again, whining it, make it come from the chakra itself. Then stop saying it loudly but continue in your head. It must be the only thought inside you.
After about 10-15 minutes, close your left nostril with your right thumb and make a deep breath. Block the air inside your lungs and stay like this as long as you can, while pressing your chin as hard as you can on your chest (the bandha) and still concentrating on the manipura and on the RAM. Then let the air come out slowly by the left nostril by closing the right one with the left thumb.
Do it about 20 times, 1 time a day for a week or more.
Since the first session you'll lose a lot of water and feel hot even if you're only in t-shirt. After a little practice, you'll feel a deep and burning fire inside of you in all you body.
It's a very powerful and effective technic, not to use in summer !

Thanks for the good technique. I saved it to my hard drive and printed a copy. I will take it home and try it out.

Do you know a similar one for cooling in the coming summer. We had the hottest summer in 500 years last year in Europe and I understand that will only get worse in the coming decades. Lots of old people died from heat stroke. Now I am only 39 but I have to be prepared for old age and could probably use it even now.

You're welcome [;)] I'm glad it worked well for you ! This technic doesn't seem to be very well known, eventhough it's very powerful as you have seen it.

galacticsurfer => Yep i know for last summer, i live in France and a lot of old people died here too :( I'll try to figure out the opposite technic, but it seems to be a little more complex i think so i don't know if it's possible. I'll let you know my results soon !

Also beware for the heat isn't a "spiritual heat" or energetic that we feel but without objective effects, no, you are REALLY heating up your body, if you put a thermometer in your mouth you'll see it ! So really be careful with this, as it's not very hard to achieve.

i dont know if i'm the guy to say this or not...but you should look into prana which is the indian form of chi. as it is used in yoga and all kinds of training over there{i'm not that interested in prana} anyways prana on my behalf warms me up in 1-2 minutes ... so i am not sure this would work for you..as after i did this the first time i had to go outside in the snow in my shivvies and lay in the snow and watch it melt and i was still burning up..although it did feel good...well anyways now i am not efected by cold nor heat anymore...so i would look into prana if thats more along what your looking for...

oh and one more thing...if your thinking 'if he's not that interested in prana y does he tell of doing it ?' well i do it because....well i dont know i just like that 'heat' it gives me now...it feels like a oven...or a stove put at 400* F....i just love it...and i only do it in winter by the way

I am trying to Use energy to warm myself up, with some success.

What I am doing is surrounding my body with a constant flow of energy (which is visuallised as fire).

The problem is that this heater takes ages to warm me up and doesn't work so well in really cold conditions. Does anyone know how to boost the efficiency of this heater? Or are there alternative methods for heating that work better?
