Does meditation help develop your energy body?

The word "meditation" does not mean much out of context. Several types of meditation do in fact develop the energy body. It seems reasonable to say that yours could, too.

What are some forms of meditation that do benefit in energy development? I do a form of zen meditation where you just focus on the breathe.

Soto Zen. There is a group here in Iowa City, Iowa that gets together several times weekly for meditation. Everyone sits facing the wall for forty minutes on a round cushion. It is a plain white wall at first, but it very quickly can be fascinating. It doesn't take much of this for me to start to see auras in the post-meditation phase. Your internal dialogue slows down and each thought and every intention becomes more powerful. This style is very good for cultivating energy.

My concern was that you would be one of those people who basically go to sleep sitting up and call it meditation. It can be very restful, but allowing the awareness to fade out like this is harmful.

Why not do both? If you're familiar with the NEW system it is easy to incorporate zen meditation. Just do your zen technique of following your breath. When you reach the desired state of deep relaxation and trance (as described by Robert Bruce), then just start doing the energy work.

The method I use is the full sequence set out in Astral Dynamics. The first parts regarding relaxation and trance are arrived at by doing the "breath following" I learned at the zen center of LA back in the 90's.

Of course, everyone has methods that suit them. What works for one person doesn't necessarily translate for someone else. However, if you are interested in incorporating energy work into what you've been doing, you might want to give RB's method a try.

Hello Links Shadow I too use breathing meditation and mental imagery to work on my energy and chatra's. This brings a physical sensation to my body and spirit. Then I use a fixative to stay aware and observe without wondering thoughts. I hope this helps in some way good luck[:)]

i to use this method, but only before i attempt an AP. (Haven't had one yet, be the way)

I am much more into meditating than I am working on the NEW system or other types of energy developing methods, and I would like to know if it is possible to achieve similar results to the NEW system through meditation, even if it takes longer?
