There are many reasons people begin their experience with the "paranormal" aka the metaphysical (You gotta admit those words sound cool!)

1) Like you said, the coolness factor. I think people really like to be able to show off things that other people cannot do. This was a small factor in mine at first. Now it's really not a reason at all.

2) Personal help. Like, at school, or work, or hobbies, etc.

3) I dunno...think of some more. Hurry!

Shaolin Monk,

My words of advice: don't give up. What we believe determines our very reality. If you believe (mostly subconsciously) that something is not possible, it's not going to happen. There are an infinite number or realities and we determine which one we inhabit by the decisions we make. If you believe in ki, it will exist. I'm in the process of redesigning my belief system in order for me to redesign my reality. Don't let other people tell you what to do, take their opinions and constructive criticisms, but live the life YOU want to live.

I completely agree with you. I never said I was disproving anything, for it's impossible to prove anything wrong in this world. We no so little about the earth we live on, and that's what makes it so great.

Also, I am not giving up on ki, I just feel that infinitely there are more important things that one must fufill in their lifetime. People should relie on, or base all of their beliefs on ki, for it is only part of creation, just as we are.

When I was 14 I was given an experience by a guiding spirit that could've allowed me to have very strong telekinetic abilities if I had followed through on it, kept on believing and kept on practicing.

I didn't. I regret it.

Dont limit yourself to just "ki" and that type of thing.  I think this is more attractive to younger kids for many reasons.. one being its one of the areas where you can be competitive and show how strong your "powers" are.

You see some people here always talking about their powers and I dont see the benefit in that.  Sure you might be able to move bricks with your mind or you might just believe you can and tell others you can.

Maybe ki is a good thing at that age not so much for great telekinetic powers etc.. but because it keeps your energy up and will let you get the most out of experiences etc. I also think if you have the ability to be some kind of telekinetic master you'll always have it.  But apart from showing people your amazing trick I dont think that should be the end goal for anyone.

BTW I think its a great sign you're questioning things now.  I cant remember if i was very introspective at that age but its good to always think "whats the reason" and know there's more to it.  You dont always see that.

This is sort of related to this topic, when I was 6 years old I had electrokinesis, I could turn on electric devices, change channels on the TV and such.  However, after a few attempts I realized it is not really that hard to do things physically and quit using my ability, and now 12 years later I am trying to get back to the point that I was before, but it is much harder this time.  I think that as a child people are more in touch with their inner feelings than they are when they are older.

I feel like answering your question for real Shaolin.  Check this out.

Perhaps people begin at this point in their life because we have aged, and thus experienced more in life.  This being the case, we explore different ways to expand our minds.  Apparently, some people choose to expand their minds into the "impossibility" in the world.

You like?  Yay.

Hasn't anyone here ever realized that the majority of people on this forum, and probably around the world, that use ki are mainly children? In my personal opinion, I think it is because youthful minds are much more open to what is not logical to the average person. Don't take this as an insult, I myself am only 13 years old. I just thought it was interesting to recognize that. In 15 years alot of us will be looking back at what we are doing right now, and either be ashamed, embarrassed, or just start laughing hysterically. I still believe in ki,and hope that I will in my future, but sometimes you come to realize what is really important in life, and right now I may not be able to answer that question, but thats why I am here today. If anyone feels like responding, go ahead, but Im not really sure what I would say back to this post.  (I use alot of commas[:P])
