The same topic has been re-posted so many times on this forum, its almost rediculious.
I've never heard anyone else say that pot rots your etheric. I could see how some "abusers" could potentially have this happen, but probably not with someone in the right state of mind, say for spiritual purposes.
Anything that you would deliberately put into your body that kills are very valuable brain cells doesnt sound too smart. Ive had friends who smoke it everyday and now they are off in space cadet city. Seeing things like that is enough feedback to know that its not enlightening.
Marijuana doesn't kill braincells, which was a hoax in the first place. The only reason scientists came to a conclusion such as that, is because they suffocated test subjects in smoke for 15 consecutive minutes. They lost braincells because of no oxygen, not because of smoking.
Logic, sorry for regurgitating.
And I didn't know that about the scientific-study. That's really good for "table-talk".
It is common knowledge that a glass of wine (something that indeed does kill brain cells) will greatly help meditation by "taking the edge" off. Ask a Doctor, they will agree.
Now, I will abmit to dabbling with Marijuanna. Suprisingly enough not until I was 38 years old, so it's a very skewed perspective. I have found that one or 2 tokes is sufficient to take teh "metaphysical edge" off. Not a whole joint, not sucking on the bong all night. Use too much and you can't focus or remember anything.
Side affects are greatly increased power flow, and much easier to see into the astral. Now lets take this a step further, what are teh classic signs or Marijuanna or LSD overdose? Spiders crawling all over them (Astral spiders? drawn to someone deeply susceptable to negs?), strange visions (well duh), seeign people differently (Aura's?). My point is since most people don't accept Metaphysics in any form, they don't know how to interpret the heightend sensations. however, someone knowing what to expect can use the drug as an aid. I believe this is a little more common in Shamanistic rituals? There are many cases of using drugs to heighten physchic powers. I thin of it as cheating, getting a glimpse of what it would be like when you study hard.
BUT you can't overdo it. Dailey use of Marijuanna has all kinds of other side affects, especially on the bodies chemistry, not to mention long term affects to the brain (doccumented). I'm talking 1-2 tokes for high rituals (usually no more than 2-3 times a month) not a 2 dubie a day habit.
Did I just advocate drug use? Either I'm enlightend or whacked, you decide!
Rastus, you pot-head! :) j/k
runlola, that was precisely the type of info I was seeking. Thanks a lot for supporting the "rotting the etheric" theory with that quote.
The side effects of drugs can be instigated by ingesting only the poisonous chemicals they are extracted with. Look at how drugs are made, and research the toxicity of waste chemcials. These, not alkaloids are what you smell when you freebase, etc. Alcohol and tobacco are classic examples in this department, too.
I would like to know if gray in the aura was there before someone felt like a pick-me-up. Gray following cocaine usage may be used-up prana which accumulated too quicky, but the leaf is said to cure almost everything in South American and Ayurvedic medicine.
I have personally seen miracle cures effected by the use of marijuana and other hallucenogens, which are not said to chemically affect the areas in question. This is not the work of something which ruins the aura.
In cases where much etheric damage is caused, it's by the elemination of toxic waste from the deeper etheric layers. If the treatments are not layden with industrial waste, several dosages will eliminate the junk from the energy field completely. In some yogic and shamanic traditions, you have to take alot of drugs before being considered fit to be trained at all.
I can attest to heavy (2 doobies a day+, every day, every week, every month, etc) usage can really really mess up your Aura. It would explain dark patches in the face of one of my wifes friends. And here I just thought it was me being really rusty, and it was me. It also explains a few other things.

Pot is no longer the gentle weed of the 1960s and may pose a greater threat than cocaine or even heroin because so many more people use it. So officials at the National Institutes of Health and at the White House are hoping to shift some of the focus in research and enforcement from "hard" drugs such as cocaine and heroin to marijuana.

Drug's now-adays are becomming dirty, regardless what the drug is. I know a lot of people who are very wise and have had some amazing experiences due to acid trips, now they wouldn't even touch the drug for fear of what is in it.
I'm not saying acid is a great thing and we should all try it, but it follows up in my next point:
A person who I'm very close to in my life had at one time quite a fond liking of marijuana use. Until it suddenly became popular around town for people to spray or sprinkle other substances all over it causing unexpected and negative experiences. Sometimes the people were unnaware of what was on the drug, sometimes they just neglected to mention it until the effects were already in place.
Personally due to how closely I follow old philosophies/philosophers and their methods I have occassions where I do in fact take a toke or two as Rastus suggested. I relax, feel reasonably well, enjoy things more and wake up the next day feeling perfectly fine. I've had many occassions where I without even attempting it would begin feeling vibrations.
I've also many times decided to test the effects to see what things could really happen. One such time I'd been listening to some easy music, simply looking forward without any focus. Simply enjoying the melody, when next thing I know my vision seemed to flip upside down, the melody froze and became a constant tone and my vision continued to change until it simply became blotches of colors. My voice in my head became like an echo, and I felt like I was sitting in the center of my vision surrounded as if in a room of my own, completely shutting the other people in the room out. It was an incredibly unique experience that honestly scared the excrement out of me at first but if I had the chance I'd certainly try it again and go a little further.
I'm not saying we should all go get stoned or strung out on anything for that matter and sit in a circle 'meditating'. However I believe the old ancient philosophies (Also seen in the movie the Matrix all through the Chronicle's home. Not to bring sci-fi into the issue) "Nothing in excess" - or everything within moderation, and "Know thyself"
The prophets of Greece and Athens would inhale ether from a natural ether spring their temple was built around. Nothing too dramatic, just enough to help them see beyond everything they're normally too focused on to get passed.
I do advise great caution when it comes to drug use of ANY kind, but I also suggest an open mind to it.

Theres never an end to the one sided propaganda against safe drugs. Potency is based on the percentage of THC in the marijuana. Obviously, the more potent, either the less you need to smoke or the more it will work.
More people drink than use pot, yet there aren't endless news articles or coverage concerning people suffering from abusive lives because of alcaholism.
Even considering marijuana to be near the same category as hard drugs like heroin and cocaine is a joke. What people really need to start worrying about is the growing epidemic of cyrstal method in North America.
I've read treatises where reliable (to me) spiritual masters state, point blank, that smoking pot creates holes in ones aura. Furthermore, these holes allow astral entities (negs) to come and go at will.
I smoked it for about 5 years during the 70's and 80's and finally quit completely after beginning to see and understand the thing about the auric puncturing. I regularly experienced influences from tramp entities, including voices during this time and for several years after. I embarked on a mission to heal my auric sheath and I feel that I largely succeeded after about 5 years or so of meditation and daily active energy work (after having quit all drugs).
From my own experiences and from some clairvoyant research of my own (watching other people), I'd have to say that I agree with Stuart Wilde....I haven't touched the s*** for over 20 years and I wouldn't consider it. Life's too good without it.

I'm not sure if they can come and go at will since you probably
still have somekind of defence. Anyway from my own experience
pot can really open me for negs. I've had that too many times.
Smoked -> some demonic visions started -> something went into me ->
next day I have fever. Thought at the time though that I were
allergic to the flower or something [|)]
One time I smoked way too much and it literally felt like I
were flying 'drunk' in the astral hitting all kinds of stuff.
It wasn't nice at all and next day I was again sick. [B)]
However smoking a little bit and doing energy exercises or
meditation I find very effective. Almost everytime I've concentrated
on this I haven't found any indication of anything negative afterwards. Also this 'sensitivity' to energy while on pot makes
it easier to fight off negs in my own opinion.
It might be that the defences have holes while on pot and a
little bit after but I do think that the body will naturally
recover from it pretty fast(except something snuck in).
I have smoked it reguarly (far too regularly) from the age of 16 - I am now in my late 30s. I have cut right down to the extent where I no longer smoke it during the day, very mildly in the evening, and sometimes not at all, and I don't miss it when I don't have it.
I have to say that my first astral experiences (one was a few years ago whilst meditating/watching auras and suddenly I was in the Astral but also walking around in my physical body at the same time) were with the help of cannabis where I was not stoned, but mildly relaxed to the point where I could connect/ empathise more.
By the same token, now I am working on conscious OBEs I like to have a clear head. There have been times when I have had a smoke I have felt something start happening and been aware that I could probably project, however, have always stopped myself because of the fear of attracting negs or ending up in lower or sub planes.
I have an open mind on this, but won't try to AP under the influence until I can AP consciously without the use of anything.
A point to think about though is I have used drink/drugs to get me through depression. Could it be that people who use drugs/drink/ cannabis have holes in their auras because of depression? If people are happy within themselves they generally have no need to self-medicate as it were, so the holes in the aura could be due to the underlying reasons for taking the drugs in the first place. Just a thought...
I was totally deeply depressed and weed free (as in never used it ever). Booze on the other hand....
My experiments started at the age of 38, so makes me an objective observer. Like I said before, great for power but hard to control. I think the biggest problems are overuse. I mean 1 toke has great ability to heighten energy significantly, so why smoke the whole joint? It's much like using anestetics, there is a very narrow zone between awake and Uh-Oh that the anesteasioligist has to stay in, too much or too little have bad effects.
If disinhibition causes you problems, I stand by my previous post!
Some homeopathic remedies are called centrifugals, because they will dislodge foreign bodies, bringing them to the skin. Do the centrifugals or the foreign bodies cause the pimples?
Proper drugs act as centrifugals in the energetic fields.
Most recently, I saw someone with a growth in his neck, which was really apparent on his narrow frame. Though his face swelled, doctors told him they couldn't find anything in his X-rays. It wasn't glandular. He gave up and started smoking weed, thinking that, with enough of this "unhealthy" herb, he could quicken his demise without a care. The growth went away! It fixes eye problems, not just the swelling from glaucoma but improves vision. Fixes colds. Regrows hair...
Those PET scans in reality show brain cells dying and being reformed every day. If you are in a depressed way and start to form thought systems based on that depression, and wine makes you forget about them, they will atrophy from disuse.
If this matters to you, see who is conducting tests and how. I was a big civic pride kind of guy before seeing that B.S. is rarely far behind government studies.
Even if I said "yes pot puts holes in your aura" or "no it doesn't" would you really be any wiser?! Would you really understand any more what that means, or would you still be in "guessing" territory? You could extrapolate things from that idea (ie guess) but I prefer to talk about the blatent effects. Smoking too much pot screws with your head and energy body, yup, thats relatively obvious. Yet I still toke some. Well, screwing with the head anyway, and I can confirm that pot has done nasty things to my energy body but I think it depends upon the person a lot too.
Personally, for more spiritual persuits, I prefer other drugs over pot. But! I have a good friend, we took shrooms after our exams had finished, had a good time, then a bit of spliff. Totally knocked me out but I can deal with that stuff- my mate couln't, and it kicked off a depression he is still in. Admittedly its a kinda yearly depression he has been through the past 3 years running, but this time it was started by drugs. If he hadn't have smoked weed too, who knows? It was a pretty stupid thing to do really since we were both so totally whacked out and exhausted after exams anyway but hey, party on.
I know of other people who have gone completely off the rails (loony, nutty, 20 sandwiches short of s picnick!) after one go on mushrooms.
So yeah, moderation required with weed IMO, not that thats something I am any good at but hey! And unless you know your own mind well, are confident in your ability to manipulate it, and relatively secure as a person, best not to get into anything harder? Flip side I have had some incredible experiences on other stuff (and I used to be VERY insecure as a person before ahh my mind started getting "out there"), ranging from things I have learned which have stayed with me (ooohh the things some drugs have taught me [:D]) to total freedom and complete love, real healing. Awesome. But caution is required, people can do some seriously stupid things at times!
Rob
What territory?!
I have smoked good weed with an automechanic and a slob. The mechanic was more of a workaholic than usual, the slob was more of a slug than usual, and I thought they were dopes more than usual. The "obvious effect" of this substance, when untainted, is that of a disinhibitor. Flaws come to the surface, rather than being pent up.
Greetings,
I don't know anything about the effect of marijuana on your aura, but I am aware that this drug is a kind of invitation to go on to the more dangerous substance abuses.
I do not agree with the thesis that smoking by yourself in private in moderation doesn't harm anyone... especially in the context of this web-site, we should be aware that our actions in one corner of the universe has far-reaching effects.
So my belief is that no-one should ever touch even a 'soft-drug' like marijuana, even if it turns your aura all bright and sparkly ;o)
Pardon the self-righteous speech-giving hey.
[Conch Shell rolls off his high-horse.]
pod3: "Flaws come to the surface, rather than being pent up." So aside from the common labels for people's habits. Your basically agreeing that people don't deny who/what they are. Instead they take their relaxed state to more enjoy it? I don't wish to dispute this, simply turn the light to the other side for once.
I have strong interests in psychology so I've many times spent my high watching people, noting to myself their behaviors and actions. I agree, that how people are is indeed magnified by the pot use. The wheel rolls both ways though. It all depends on the mindset you have when you go into it. As with anything, especially metaphysics.
Conch Shell: Just my personal opinion, mostly based on experience. The 'fact' that marijuana use leads to the use of harder drugs is bs. I myself and many of my friends have dabbed in pot use and none of us developed a fiending desire to shoot heroin, or smoke crack. It's the same way with anything, regardless what it is. There are just some people who don't know when to stop. That's not the drugs fault. I'm proof of that.
I think it could easily be noted that this topic is about as productive as spitting in the wind. Some people like and want to spit...and everyone else is the wind. Nobody is going to change there mind, and everyone is going to disagree.
Personally I'll stick to the same belief that's always worked for me. So long as you can control your use, and be responsible the only negative effects that come from pot use are created within one's self.
Most people turn to drugs to 'escape reality'. The problem is they don't understand what 'reality' is. People turn to harder drugs to either escape what they have seen, or looking for a bigger thrill. Either way they still aren't accepting reality.
I think what most people don't accept reality. That's why I love the Matrix trilogy, so much symbology, so short a movie series. Basically it's like that, people are happy with their illusions. But a few of us aren't, we climb out of the coma and face reality head on. We still work within the illusional framework as well as reality, creatures of 2 worlds.
Jim,
My purpose for posting this up was to "what-if" the effects on the energy-body, aura, etc.
When someone does cocaine, their auric signature is influenced by greyish colours. Now there are several sources that say this is the deal for all mind-influencing drugs, particularly marijuana which supposedly punctures holes in the auric field, befuddles your energetic-makeup, yadda yadda yadda.
So if this IS the case, then I think it is important for the "adept" to be aware of this. Some people are walking a steady road. Some are walking downhill. And SOME are walking UP a hill. If the above is true, then smoking a joint is equivalent to applying soap to the soles of the uphill walkers, the adept. That is my point for bringing this up.
Marijuana definately has some great uses, medically and psychologically for people who are asleep. But once the person is awake, it may no longer be something that has the same helpful effect. It may be equivalent to trying to fly for a 100 years and realizing that there has been an invisible robe tied to the ground. It depends on the purpose and their karmic-profile, but my reason for bringing this topic up is for those who want to "fly".
Firstly, no matter how this sounds I mean no offense to you or your views. I appreciate your concern on the matter, regardless my reaction.
BlackBox:
I understand your purpose, but please understand mine. You are here defending a view, and presenting to the adept one straight minded opinion against this 'soft-drug' marijuana. 'Informing' them that their use of this drug will gimp their progress and prevent them the ability to 'fly'.
I'm here playing devil's advocate and defending another view based on personal experience and first-hand knowledge. I have yet to experience any trouble 'flying' due to my decision to use the drug. Granted I don't feel drugs should be something used without regard, and proper planning (or lack there of (plans I mean)). One of the first rules in metaphysics and energy training is that you don't fall victom to negative suggestions, and let doubts slow you down. So would this not be a negative suggestion or a doubt to anyone who uses this substance?
Heres an example:
I believe strongly in AP/OBE/General Metaphysics and the liking...
A hardcore christian I know believes it's the work of the devil and I'm going straight to hell for it.
Which do you believe? Why? Do you have honest proof other than what you were told or came to believe yourself that either is true/false?
I'm sure synthetic substances leave tracks in the aura. I would never advocate for anyone to partake in the use of any drug much less advertise that I've done it and it's certainly the way to go. (Just for the record I haven't though [;)])
I don't really care to debate this issue with you because as I stated and we both are proving; We are not going to agree, and we certainly aren't going to change our minds. I'm simply trying to keep the minds open for those who believe the truth is theirs to decide. I personally don't feel my choices should be governed and my abilities or capabilities judged based on what I do or don't do. I'm not accusing you of doing this as I understand your position. I agree that people should be warned about the risks of drug use and I definatly don't feel drugs are for everybody. However I feel the concept altogether that drug use inhibits one's abilities to 'fly' breaches upon one's personal freedom.
Again and again I have read in yogic texts that there is a path to awakening that involves the use of substances and again and again it is strongly advised that such a path is only for the strong of heart and those that have a trusted master to guide them.
I did fine with mj when I used it in moderation and balanced usage with lots of meditation. The problems started when I took to passing the bong around several times a day and started ignoring sleep and stopped meditating all together. It took every bit of my willpower to maintain even a whim of sanity and on occassion I just had to ride out the storm, so to speak.
I loved using it because one or two tokes of a joint (the key is to inhale nice and slow and let it sit in the lungs for a little bit) opened up my entire energy body (or at least made me very aware of it) When I was being smart about it, I could basically keep the high from a couple of tokes for days and days.
I'll say that anything mj can do, you can do yourself. You can get the same high, a better high, become aware of your energy body just as well by meditating or focusing your will / intent on getting to that place.
halfphased:
I agree with you that anything you can get with the use of marijuana can be obtained by outright focus and effort. I'm in no way suggesting marijuana as an alternative to good 'ole fashioned work. In fact to use and not to continue with steady work is where the trouble comes from. Sometimes it's a little hard to just 'breath' and take the edge off, but again it doesn't mean smoking pot is the best or only alternative. Hell, for the most part I and I'm sure others can agree it is just a very nice social habit if used wisely to just enjoy the company of those your with. Not necissarily for spiritual enlightenment but just to relax and let go of physical thought. Just as having a glass of wine on a special occasion with friends. These things don't make you a bad person, or incapable of any particular abilities.
most drugs leave signs in an Aura. Don't even get me started on Anti-Depressants and the metaphysical side affects.
Marijuanna is like Nitrous Oxide on a car. If you prepare the car, then you get more power and speed. If you try it on an old rust bucket, it will probably blow up. Under controlled circumstances it has quite interesting affects. Abused it will eat you alive, metaphysically speaking.
I tried the "more is better" theory one weekend (alone I might add, neat trick with a wife and kids). More is NOT better. More is much much worse. Absolutely no ability to focus. Think about the ramifications, and it should disuade you from trying it. Less is better. Wholistically style works very well. I'm talking about 1/2 toke to really jumpstart energy. Since a typical joint has....10-12 tokes in it, I'm talking 1/24th to 1/48th of a joint.
We are talking about Energy here, not being comfortably numb.....
Hey Rastus,
"Abused it will eat you alive, metaphysically speaking."
Could you expand on this a little for me? I am interested to hear what you have to say. Oh, and I would also like to get you started on anti-depressants, so feel free to rant away! Aside - the friend I mentioned with depression, was on anti-depressants, might be now not sure. He dropped out of our uni course for a year off, totally stopped taking any drugs like alcohol or pot. Last time I saw him he said "well, I'm feeling much better now that I have started drinking and smoking again". lol, made me think anyway....
[;)]
Rob
Oooooooooookay. Imagine if you could really build up power, I mean inferno style! Cool eh? Now imagine you have no abilitly to focus, center, or ground yourself. Don't forget being absent minded. You are now the premiere NEG magnet. That's not counting any Aura rotting. Or APing with dimished defenses of the flesh while flashing an energy lighthouse.
Brrrrrr, Anti-Depressants. Paxil was like being wrapped in a Metaphysical blanket. Couldn't raise pwer, couldn't see Astrally worth a dam, couldn't project power, It was a Metaphysical prison.
Wellbutrin made me Manic. Also made me angry and somewhat homicidal. Now you have an angry Metaphysicist with major attitude and no compassion. A healer to boot, with no morals. Think of the really nasty things you could do..... Oh yeah, and your still depressed.
Remoron was the strangest. I wasn't "me". Most of us can appreciate the significance of that, but it scared my wife into tears when she first saw 'me' on it. All I can vividly remember was a compulsion to stop taking it.
Effexor was actually useful. It fought off the chemical depression long enough for me to focus and center. The moment I could ground and raise power I stopped taking it (no need at that point). Took it maybe 20 days? 6 days to build up in the blood, about a week to be Metaphysically active, then a few days to work on myself and Voila' I'm healed. I give credit to my HigherSelf for Metaphysically slapping the snot out of the fleshie me and leaving some sense behind [;)]

well, yeah, me and drug experiments go way back (mostly Pot). I can't attest for other hallucinagens, but for the most part i would say drugs aren't good for much of anything. Pot USED to be fun years ago when the sensations were new and exciting, but the effect wears off, and eventually people (including me) got to doing it every day. That is just addiction (if not chemical then psychological). It DOES weaken the aura, and it allows holes where negs leech off your energy. Your personal energy that could otherwise be used to better yourself mentally, spiritually and physically is instead used to feed other entities.
Now, that said, moderation in all things is a good way to live. A joint here and there won't kill you, i don't even think it will hurt you. But it's all a matter of willpower and peer pressure and where in someones life they are at the present. A young person who has never experienced much with drugs is more likely to go gung ho with them, more than an older person who has been around the block and is more in touch with their inner selves.
Personally pot doesn't do much for me now other than give me the munchies and plunk me in front of a TV. It USED to give me wild and creative ideas, but for some reason that completely stopped, so now it's just a waste of time and money.
Notes about marijuana use.
First of all, it does not burn out the etheric body, in fact, it seems to strengthen it very (providing on does asanas and pranyama). I noticed that smoking causes a surge of prana in the body. It also enhances consciousness and thinking making it seem "thicker". It does have some negative aspects though, mainly memory related. But I find it's a great tool to use to find out the state of your subtle bodies, remember that it doesnt really do anything to your subtle body except charge it up with prana. I've noticed that pranayama exercises are really good while smoking marijuana, it distributes the energy (which you can really feel) to your body, and in my case, i can really notice a difference in my subtle anatomy that last even after the smoking session.
I am currently doing research right now with different techniques, different intakes and different substances to analyze and try to understand their effect on mainly the astral and etheric bodies.
I'm new here, but you'll see me more often ;)
Peace

This may be your personal experience, but it's not the average one.
For a young, vibrant person who is active at yoga and has not smoked pot for very long, it may take considerably longer for the corrosive effects to manifest upon the auric sheath. But it will happen eventually with continued, frequent use.
I watched it in myself (20 years ago) and I've watched it happen over time with many other people I know. It's like acid on the etheric sheath, which is by the way, connected with the faculty of memory. Hmmmm....
Stuart Wilde says that "pot rots your etheric".
As if use punctures holes in the energy/astral body.
I really value the moderators (and senior members) opinions on these topics, so I'd greatly appreciate your input.
