Practice, practice, practice. You need to work on your concentration. The more you work on it the better you will get at it. It will be best if you can do this throughout the day. Stay focused on what you are doing and don't let your mind wonder.
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

I have a similar problem.. and I know the solution is easily said ("just keep on going anyway") but it's not easy of course to go on if you're not getting any results. I'm convinde of it all though!.. I know that it 'should' be working, but I don't get 'any' results. The promised sensation felt the 'very first time' stay out.

I've read a good part of the NEW guide some months ago, and have read just the first three chapters yetserday evening. It seems that I'm already getting stuck on the third chapter... visualization is no problem for me, not at all. I can really 'focus' on for example my right thumb. I try to imagine seeing my right thumb, trying to feel especially the joint because I read the joint is most easily felt.

And I keep thinking of that area, with my eyes closed, for like 5 minutes, and perhaps I feel something very faint indeed but nothing like the described feeling that 'stands out'... ("Highlight it with your body awareness until it stands out.  ") longer than 5 minutes is already difficult because my mind start saying 'Why isn't anything happening? Am I still focussing right? When will I feel more?'

Anyway, I go on to the exercise where I trace a pathway with my finger on the inside of my other arm. So I go from my thumb to my shoulder.. and back.. and forth... and back... like 30 times or something. And then I try to touch it softer, until I don't touch it anymore. Well, it's simple,.. as soon as I'm not touching the skin anymore I don't feel anything moving anymore.. although I keep 'thinking' of something moving along the pathway. I just feel the entire affected area (where I've touched it), not a 'single point moving'.

So should I go back and forth for 500 times instead?.. and should I focus on my thumb for half an hour instead?..


I can already guess the reply though,.. just keep trying.. [:)] :/

Burningriver:  I have a couple ideas for maintaining concentration.  Take it in small pieces.  Try tactile imaging first.  I think that section isn't too big and I got some minor results pretty fast my first time.  That helped keep me motivated to learn more.  Also, if you're reading the online version, try printing it out if you haven't.  Reading anything off a computer screen makes me sleepy, unless it's very short and my eyes get a break now and then.

Sygmoral:  I think you should stop trying to imagine "seeing" your thumb.  Robert Bruce's statement on vizualiation could be in a confusing place since NEW has very little to do with vizualizing.  It's still an excellent system when you get the basics down.

The point of the scratching and tracing is to get an idea of what sensations you should simulate mentally.  You have to imagine (feeling it, not seeing it) a pressure similar to the one your finger makes pressing on skin and move the pressure around to get the energy sensations.  You don't actually have to move your finger once you get an idea how it's supposed to feel.

Also, If your thumb isn't reacting I suggest you start working on your feet mainly because they react stronger.  After you get some energy sensations and some confidence go back to doing whatever you feel works.

I tend to have a problem of reading things too fast and missing important chunks.

I'm learning to read slowly and when I want to really take in what is being said to me (such as in Astral Dynamics), I find that reading it out loud and slowly really helps.  I feel like a moron, but at least I follow the words!! [:D]

If your attention is wandering, reading aloud will focus your mind on the task in hand (hopefully!).

Aight, I've known this site for some time now, including the forum, and have really done what I could to get the NEW system working, but I'm giving up after all these tries. I'm sure it's a good system, but it just doesn't seem to work with me.

But I still want to develop my Energy Body,.. so is there anyone that knows another (good) way of developing it? (preferably a guide that I can view or download online)
After I've had some results with another method, perhaps I can try NEW again..

Sygmoral try this ,takes max 10 min to execute(not counting reading it).

Lay down ,clear your mind (think about as little as possible ,failing that go over the sequence of action your gonna do.) 30sec to 1 min should do it(it aint wichcraft after all[;)]).

Now feel your feet , more than that focus all your attencion (no Imaginings thank you) on the area under your feet in the area that doesnt touch the ground when you walk(sole pit or whatever it is called). just errh feel this area out for a little while say 20 sec.

**drop this step if you where succsessfull and are doing it another time(its just supportwheel). Take your indexfinger slowly touch this area your focusing on (barely). Just as your touching it imagine( that you got a vortex in your skin and the area your feeling touch in start spinning taking the feelign with it (kinda a sluggish spin like calmly stirring suger in tea). Did you feel something? other that the finger ? like some tingly feeling?

Ok try another step afterward you should be more than relaxed by now as feeling out an area is like listening totally effortless. Spin the area up like you did after touching last step. Ready your indexfinger again ,but dont touch. Rather imagine (no visualisation nessery ,infact can be detrimental as they can distract from feeling)
that your finger got and large needlelike (1-2 inches)aura comming out from it. It has 3 colours ,the one you most associate with heat in the tip ,the one with stinging cold in middle and the one for electrisity in the end (if no coulour is had just try and imagine the last part is an electric field).

Now slowly pierce your soles where you hold your attencion(passivly expectanly feeling) ,with your finger aura ,its very sharp so a slight sting may be felt when connecting to the area wich is imagined as a little vortex right under your skin. Ok get your finger close enough so you can feel the 3 energy types repeat it a few times if you get feedback and pull it out.

Ok if you felt the imagined aura , do it again tommorow without the outlined step . Then NEW exercises should work better. If not well im sorry guess at least you not wasted more than 20 min with me (reading and execution).

My gf has ADD.  She's been meaning to read the Astral Dynamics book, but it's tough for her.  There are a lot of books about it, and overcoming it (what an oxymoron, huh?  overcoming ADD, from a book!)  All I know is that you can improve your condition gradually, as my gf has.  Whereas before it was difficult for her to finish a book, she has just lately been finishing all kinds of nonfiction books.  She's not cured, or anything.  She's just slowly conditioned herself.  It can be done.

I was really trying to read the guide for NEW ,but I cant keep my attention focused on it for long enough. I dont have add I just cant do it.
I was wondering if anyone could kind of ease me along with it.
