Hi,
Hey, you stole my technique! [8D].

Yes, this does work. I came up with this a while ago in another topic. I have noticed quite a lot of changes since I started doing this, and it has helped me a lot.

Squeek, you sound humerous in your posts. It's just the way you express stuff. Its funny [:D]. Why doesnt anybody like you? ROFL.

Cya,
auraseer.

Squeek

I honestly have no idea  :p (btw i also heard about this on another KI site.  :p  maybe not your technique after all )

Anyway, there is an ongoing problem with my life.  Time.   The only time i have is at 10:30, and even that is hard for me.  Whenever i do this, i fall asleep.  Problems.   Solutions?

Stealth Killer

Hey Squeek

Is that in the morning, or in the night???
[?]

I drink a powerful coffee, and then at night i stay awake, because of the caffeine, and then i have all of my mental battles, oobes, etc.

I hope this helps.

Hi,
Try drinking a 1 litre bottle of Pepsi, that should keep you awake for a bit [:P].

It also improves your concentration, so you improve more.

Cya,
auraseer.

Squeek

Hmm if only i had access to soda.

Tom

It always amazes me to hear about people who can feel the caffeine content in a soda. My tolerance for caffeine has drastically gone down from what it was, but it is still possible for me to take 2 pills (400 mg) of caffeine and forget having taken them. My daily dosage was 1.4 to 1.6 g with 50 to 100 mg of ephedrine on the side. This was in addition to plenty of soda and strong coffee. In addition, herbs like cayenne and ginseng. Yes, all of that on a daily basis for most of a year. Reiki is amazing stuff. I did not get the massive headaches and body aches which should have happened when I went several months without a single caffeine or ephedrine pill.

Mental training is a good thing, but it is necessary to first study the nature of mind before training it. Not as a theoretical thing, but when you read about something keep in mind that it is describing you and try to see it that way. Often there is discussion about thoughts and thinking. We all must decide for ourselves about whether to suppress thoughts or just be aware of them without being disturbed by them. It is better to have several approaches to the problem of uncontrolled thinking and be able to apply each as needed. Just knowing what approach to take can be tricky. That is why study helps.

Squeek

Wow. you have a great ability to beautify every topic tom  :p

Fat_Turkey

Hmmmm well I've seen mind training appear on every single ki website I've been to, although those sites tend to have DBZ farfetched sci-fi bullcrap mixed in to their actual real techniques.

I've tried mind training before and sometimes find it hard to concentrate. It's mainly because I'm not sure whether I must see myself fighting in the first-person veiw or the third-person, and if I'm in the first-person, whether or not I'm supposed to feel things [:P]
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

No amount of rigorous training, sitting and doing nothing, and clearing one's mind can help a man who hasn't overcome his doubts.

Squeek

Good point

Following up on that, i like to imagine it as close to the game DBZ - Budokai.  If you're in 3rd person view, the camera can change around to any angle you want it to be at, and its not like left and right fighting.  Also, i try to use some sort of rules in my fights, similar to Martial Arts Tourneys from dbz.  The standard 2 rules : Loss by giving up, or ring-out.  Also, try to vary your oppoenents.  Once, in the same "round", i fought a gigantic opponent with amazing strength, but weak movement.  After that one, I fought a quick opponent with a sword :p  Variation makes it more fun.

Stealth Killer

I always vary my opponents.  It makes it so much more easy to keep your concentration.   The other day I was against some person with a Stinger missile launcher.   It was a hard battle, but the person wasn't at all fast, so it was a quick battle.

I've only played DBZ once or twice, but i find it nothing like my mental training program.

How much mental training is apropriate per day???[?]

Bye for now

Killer  }:)

Tom

Actual mental training can be extended until it is constant. There is no situation in which you cannot train your mind. What is needed is a sense of your own presence, detatched from the story-line. It is what is called contemplation in Dzogchen. In Theravada Buddhism it is called mindfulness. It takes a lot of practice. When you succeed, excess thinking and negative emotional states are easy to control. Then, if you should happen to slip back into the story line, it will also get easier to recover.

Stealth Killer

I'm confused [?]   What do you mean by constant mental training.

Bye for nw
Stealth
Killer  }:)

Tom

Constant as in without gaps, even through sleep. Dream yoga and sleep yoga. There is literally no situation you can think of which does not offer an opportunity to practice in some way.

Squeek

Um, how would one go about doing this?  How is it that you change your dream into whatever you want it to be?

Update : Time spent mentally training : 1 hour, 15 minutes.

Tom

What I said was that it is possible to use sleep and dream states to train the mind. Lucidity is more of a side effect than a goal in this. What matters is the awareness itself, not the object of the awareness.

kakkarot

squeek: how would you make the training constant? easy, in every situation you are in, think about how someone could attack you, and then what you would do in response.

in every situation means at every spare second that you have to think. ie, as you're walking home after school, think about all the places around you that a person could just jump out and attack you from. think about how each person walking by you could just up and attack you. think about every possible way any situation could become hostile, and then think of what you would do. the best way to go about this is by being practical. don't do the dbz stuff like you do in your imaginatory fighting. think about how YOU would actually go about defending yourself or other people if a violent situation just popped up around you.

see easy, right? [}:)] .

~kakkarot

auraseer

Hi,
But if you do that you will be paranoid all the time when you stop[:P].

And maybe at night the teddy bears will attack you [:P].

Cya,
auraseer.

kakkarot

can't eat, the clowns will sleep me. (God bless aixelsyd [:P][:D][:o)][;)])

~kakkarot

Squeek

Heh, auraseer, you're becoming more like meeeeeee :p :p :p

so anyway, i already do that...sorta.  Whenever i'm walking home, i just sorta think that every car that passes by, someone is going to jump out and kidnap me :p Hmm, tv DOES have some education in it... :p   wow...only 5 green faces.  time for more :p :p :p :p :p :p

Tom

Earlier I was mistaken about the nature of this topic. I thought it was about training the mind, for whatever purpose. We do not seem to agree on what mental training is. It is not necessary to have physical conflict to train the mind.

Stealth Killer

I feel the same way as you squeek,  If i ever see anything at all, I immediately charge to the full, and I always  always  always  always  always  carry some kind of ki charged weapon with me. }:)

I sometimes feel paranoid, but being on my guard most of the time, has helped many times.

Bye for now
Stealth
Killer }:)

kakkarot

true that, tom. some forms of training can't be helped by conflitual (is that a word?[;)]) processes.

~kakkarot

auraseer

Hi,
The other night I was against a water man thingy [:P]. He was very fast, but his hits were weak. I made a Ki weapon and wacked him over the head with it [:P].

Then I was up against a fat bloke [:P]. He jumped up and down to make an earthquake. I then puched him really hard. My hand got engulfed in fat [:P]. He kicked me in the side. This part was wierd. I actually felt the blow on my physical body. Of course I lost concentration and opened my eyes. There was no mark there at all but when I touched it, it hurt. I had a bit of fun poking it over and over again to try to get off school [:P].

I continued the mind training. I was against a little girl with a teddy bear. I ran to her to hit her and she opened her eyes really wide and used a paralysis technique. She threw me around the arena many times, but one particular blow I felt with my physical body again.

I went against a fit... erm...girl. She did erm... things...to me [:P](and by gosh, that was good [:P]. After that she kicked me in the head [:P].

I decided that it was enough for the night.

*Darth vader voice* "You shall never win the funny face thing...Squeek." [:P].

I think its time for more smilies [:P][:P][:P][:P].

Cya,
auraseer.

Stealth Killer

Thats pretty weird auraseer...   I found myself fighting against, a clone of myself[:O]

I snapped out of it straight away, because I was pretty scared about what might happen if I was to defeat myself.

As for green smilies[:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P][:P]that should be enough!!!

Bye for now
Stealth Killer  }:)

Squeek

Oh no you wont :p  Ill get you yet :p (Tell me when it gets annoying, then i might get back on topic :p :p :p :p :p :p)

Ok, ty for telling me :p

Yea :p  so anyway.  I have been slacking off again, and i dont know why.  Possibly because i face ridicule from everybody i told :p

I think what i do is try too hard.  Currently, I try to pack in 4 types of training in a 2 hour timeframe...from 10 to 12.  At 10 i usually make my attempts at KI.  Afterwards, I goto TK.  When that fails, i go onto Mental Training.  If im not asleep by then, i go onto AP and, you guessed it, fail.  Is it that I'm doing too much or just some really easy solution that can be explained to me in a quick manner.  (PLEESE make it a really easy solution that can be explained to me in a quick manner :p :p :p :p)

BTW... how many :p 's is that? like, 15 :p 's? I wonder. O well :p

Sorry for the delay...everytime i remember to check the forums after my countless hours squandered away, my sis kicks me off while i write my reply.  Wrote this one at 10:15 EST on 1/22.  :p yea.

BTW - yea, last night i fought myself too, but it was my future self, and he just wanted to see how i was a year ago.  The fight never ended..he left in the middle of it because he knew i had no chance :p :p :p.

PS - I learned where i got my battle techniques from!!!  It WASN'T that DBZ game, but actually Super Smash Brothers Melee.  If you like using swords, there are 4 characters with them, and are sword items :p Characters such as mewtwo and mario can shoot projectiles that come from "nowhere" (mewtwo actually uses KI and psychic powers) So, consider that; the style of fighting is incredible :p :p :p

PSS - Seven more :p :p :p :p :p :p :p (LOL) BLOKE! HAHAhAHAhahahaha (trails off...) comical.

Edit - I was one :p short. I had 33 :p 's and Stealth had 34 :p 's.  Well, i showed him! :p
