i don't believe that third eye work is a staple in deep spiritual development. i have rarely tried anything on my third eye and, i hope i don't sound like i'm bragging, i'm a very spiritually based person.

but i suggest that you should keep an "eye" (;)) on your third eye development and if things start seeming like they are going in a bad direction, put a break on your training and try to figure out how to get back on a good path.

Usiimers,

My wife has recently taken up yoga, so I am drawing my knowledge second hand here, but...

Third eye work in yoga is usually only practiced by those more advanced. They should teach excercised involving the chakras from the ground up, both metaphorically and literally. My wife first learned excercises for stimulating the root chakra, then went on to the sacral chakra, which is the stage she is still at now. It needs to be done in this order as the flow and transmutation of energy in the body MUST work along a path from the base chakra up.

If you have a teacher who is concentrating on the third eye at such an early stage, it might be worth asking them why. Either they are jumping ahead too soon without doing the proper preparatory work which, as you feel, is not a good thing, or they are simply using visualisation techniques and referring to the third eye as a point of awareness or focus without actually intending to stimulate the brow chakra.

As to NEW and yoga, the methods in NEW are loosely based on yoga. They'll compliment each other, not clash.

Hello!
I was curious what all of you think about third eye development.
I have started doing yoga recently and a large part of the deep meditative practices include concentrating on your third eye.
I am not sure what to think.  I know Robert stresses that you need to develop your whole energy body piece by piece.  He said it's dangerous to start with this sort of work.
At the same time, many of these antient practices which as yoga, call upon one to work heavily on the third eye.
I would not want to start concentrating on my third eye in meditation if I thought it would cause serious spiritual problems.
I have been reading a lot by many of the sages and seers of India and it seems as if third eye work is a staple in deep spiritual development.  I know that Robert says the same thing.  Should I be cautious with this and do NEW at the same time as I'm doing my yogic practices?  I'm not sure if these systems would clash or if they would compliment each other.  Does anyone have advice on this?
Thank you!
