PSD, which i assume...has more to do with the metaphysical.  But that isn't to say you can't take it literally meaning, using psychic abilities to defend yourself lol.  Sorry, i can't say that i know anything about ninjitsu, but I wouldn't recommend trying to step out of the way, until you have excellent training. i had to do this in martial arts- only instead of swords there were punches and kicks thrown.

regardless as to whether it's "metaphysical" or just physical, your awareness extends outside of your body in a field around you.  if you become sensitive enough to this field you can feel things moving through it.  i did an experiment with my girlfriend in which i was laying down with eyes closed. she then passed her hands over my body and i could tell her where her hands were within a few inches of accuracy.

rest assured, this is a real thing that more traditional schools of martial arts practice.

Vojn Svetla Gorskog

Hello there gingerbreadman,

The skills used in 'blind fighting' are acquired over a long period of time and practice, gradually. To put it very simply, they rely on hightened senses of hearing, and knowledge of the enemy's fighting technique.

Thinking now about what a ninja might face in the future gives birth to doubt. Doubt can grow into a plethora of negative emotions, and end up demotivating you or anyone. Not saying it must.

So, if you wish to study ninjitsu, be aware, but don't worry about the challenges lying ahead. In the period of your training the masters will prepare you to deal with all of them. Trust their methods, and don't doubt the outcomes.

Hope this helped,

and good luck trying to find someone to teach you  ninjitsu

you're right Vojn.  it has to do with heightened levels of other physical senses as well.

i don't need to learn ninjutsu per say, all i wanted to know is if it was the same thing as PSD. and how it can be developed.

Ninjutsu is taught at the dojo I go to (various martial arts are taught there). But what you talk about is, as Moonburn said, part of traditional school learning in more than just ninjutsu. What Moonburn said about your awareness extending outside your body is also true. Once you teach yourself to not rely so much on your eyes, you'd be surprised what other senses come into use.

It definitely fits the "Self Defense" part, but psychic, I'm not sure. I don't think, though, that this is the same as thing as what's meant by PSD on this website.

thank you, you have been most helpful. i thought that psd was different, but definitely better to know than assume. i wasn't sure what robert bruce wrote was only dealing with posession/ negative energy related defense, and not more physical based defense.

gingerbreadman

honestly, i am looking for a doorway, between defense on a pysical and metaphysical form of defense.

Ryu-Kanjin

PSD or what ever you call it is just sencing the energy of everything around you, its pretty simple if you think about it. But "sencing"(for a lack of a better name) si something iv had all my life so i dont now how hard it would be for other people to learn it [|)]

Just focus your attention away from your sences and focus on everything around you [:)], thats the simplest way i can think of to explain it [|)] just try it no one will be able to sneek up on you ever again [:P]
Dont look at the world around you with your eyes, use your soul, and you will see more then you have ever imagined.

is anyone familliar with the art of ninjutsu, they incorporate a test into the black belt requirements that an aspiring ninja must move out of the way of an oncoming sword swipe (blind folded or back turned.)
could anyone explain in detail how one can do this? is this a form of psychic self defense?
