Title: Strange energy thing

I've gotten myself into situations like this before also. You get energy flowing into a chakra which makes it spin and glow. And the energizing causes a physical sensation at the location of the chakra which makes it difficult to remove your attention from the location. Which, unfortunately, causes the energy to continue to flow there--catch 22. But it's never gone on for weeks in my case. At most, several days. And it's usually the brow chakra with me also.

Have you tried to divert the energy to another chakra? That's what I'd do. Press your four finger tips of one hand into your sternum in order to create a definite physical sensation. Center your attention on that chakra and try to "forget" the sensation in your brow chakra. Keep your attention on the heart chakra and soon the energy will flow there and create a burning sensation there. If your attention starts to wander up to your forehead again, gently but firmly move it back down to the heart chakra area and feel "yourself" exist there (in the heart chakra) instead of the essential "you" being located in the brow and beholding the action of redirecting things into the heart. You want to move "you" into your heart chakra and stay there for a while.

I hope this makes sense--what's probably happening is that "you" (your soul, or something like that...) is actually centered in your brow chakra. And since your consciousness is centered there, you are magnetizing the Kundalini to that chakra in a small way continuously. And since it's causing you pain, you've got to shut it down. I've found personally that if I move my attention to my heart chakra and leave it there long enough, the flow of energy up my spine will be diverted there. And it usually subsides into dormancy automatically more readily from the heart than it does from the third eye chakra. I don't know why. Be sure though that when you do this it's not your third eye looking at your heart chakra--otherwise the energy will just keep flowing to the third eye. Try to feel yourself as a little guy inside your heart chakra. I know this sounds a little silly. But I'm speaking from experience.

You'll get over this. But you've got to teach yourself how to consciously control the flow of this energy in your spine. For now, you've got to get it away from your forhead though.

Sheesh....I can hardly imagine what it feels like after 7 weeks.[:O]

Once you do the math it is actually about a 1.2 years out of meditation pain and 2.5 years with it only in meditation...

I am not sure the flow is "small" though.  This woman had me release as much energy as I could from my third eye chakara into her hand and she said it pushed it back.  But I have yet to study energy flow so I do not know what defines little(this pain makes me kinda "lazy".  I cannot force myself to resume my spiritual studies).

Oh yeah, what is this kundalini thing?  I have read some posts about how people want it.  But if what I am experiencing is it they are foolish (but I dont really know what I am talking about :P).

The woman said to "ground my spine".  I do not remember how she said to do it, so if someone knows could you tell me?

Even if I do divert this excess energy what will prevent it from surging back up when I meditate again?  Do I have to balance my energy system or something?

Thanks for the info boydster.  I will try that.

Thanks for all the help I have gotten and may get in the future.  Sorry about all the questions and for knowing so little about this topic :P.

You're actually quite right about the Kundalini and most people being foolish for wanting it. Most people don't have the mental discipline or the moral strength to handle it. I personally believe that premature Kundalini awakenings account for a certain percentage of the cases of psychosis and similar problems in the mental wards around the world.

Do some Googling of the words "Kundalini" and educate yourself. Especially read about the various methods of grounding the energy. I've heard of visualizations, hands and feet in buckets of ice water, and lots of other stuff which I'm not an expert at because the method I mentioned in my previous post works for me. Try some stuff. But it's probably best not to meditate until you get a better conscious control of the energy. Try to get to where you feel that you can turn it on and off. Read other peoples accounts of their experiences with it.

I think you'll be ok.

I did some searching and I found another possible cause could be a blockage in a chakra.  That can cause burning sometimes I hear.  A blockage in the throat chakra can cause sinus pain, and that would cause similar symtopms.  So how do I clear chakras?  If that works my problem  may be very simple.  If not, it may be more difficult.  I tried your method.  I couldnt get it to work.  I think I just need to try it more.  My attention will not go off my head :(

Don't give up dude!!! It took me about a year of daily practice until I got to where I could shift the flow to whatever chakra I wished and to hold it there.

I would also recommend reading about and practicing the New Energy Ways (NEW) technique which is freely available on this site. One of the distinguishing characteristics of it is the employment of tactile awareness instead of viualization. This would be very good for you to learn in my opinion. You are probably naturally inclined towards being visual which may be contributing to your body's overemphasis of energy flow to the third eye chakra. Tactile awareness doesn't involve visualization which may be a key to helping you get yourself balanced out. Energy flows to where we put our attention. But it can be hard to shift that attention if you are very habituated to living in your head and surveying the world from there.

So when you pushed your fingertips into your sternum (a type of tactile awareness focusing) and concentrated your awareness on the heart chakra did you feel a burning, swelling sensation? Or anything? How long did you try it?

Yes, Kundalini has been know to, almost with a mind of it's own, move to where there are blockages or density and systematically burn away the dross material. Some people might say that you should just sit back and let it happen because nature knows best. But I would argue that if you have had ongoing pain for months in your head, that it's probably not going to interfer with Mother Nature that much to ground yourself and let the process proceed at a somewhat more moderate pace. I'm curious as to what others might think of this.

Hi neowert,

I know a mudra which is a specific hand gesture that can change the flow of energy in your body.

This one can be use to help with headaches and balance your energy.

Ok, place the tips of your indexfinger and middle finger to the tip of your thumb and place the ring finger down in the palm of you hand next to ball of thumb. Do this with both hands for daily for about 15 min. or till you get the desierd effect.

Hope this helps.

So I have been mediatating most of my life on and off, and my parents did too before I was born.  About 2 or 3 years ago I did a "residence course" which is a few days of intense meditation. However, during this period I started experiencing head pressure during meditation.  At some points I would even get a rotating burning sensation in my third eye area.  The pressure would then go away shortly after mediation.  I stopped a after a few days of that.  Months later I started again, and mediated for maybe 7 weeks.  But the pain didnt go away after mediation this time!  It is not as bad in normal waking state though.  Now, I am posotive I am doing the meditation correctly (dont ask how I know, its irrelevant).  So I have not meditated since, but the pain is always there, especially at night (it doesnt keep me up though).  I saw some woman who is intuitive in these matters and said I had massive energy flow.  Long story, but she does not know what I should do exactly (for the purposes of this post).  Anyway, what is happening to me and what should I do about it?  It is screwing up my life.
