Hee, if radioactive iodine exist take KI if radioactive iodine doesn't exist don't.
Taking KI won't really harm one in the case of an existing radiation hazard. So I'd take it after bang anyway. Still the accumulation of iodine in the thyroid gland takes time and is via ingested food and if the authorities are on top of their job they'll have the answers before it's too late.

I'm no MD and this is not medical advise.

Hey people,

I assume that this was a joke :)

if I remember my High School Chemistry class correctly (1987) K is Potassium and I is Iodine on the Periodic Table...therefore having nothing to do with ki/chi.

jilola

Yep. Nothing to do with ki/chi as it pertains to these forums.
But it does help you to reduce the radiation load by saturating your thyroid gland thus preventing radioactive iodine from accumulating in it. Of course if there is no active iodine in the environment the substance has no effect. It also doesn't help against other sources of radiation, only iodine.

But I did look at the link provided half expecting what the name suggested [:D]

Would an electromagnetic shield be enough to protect against radiation? What does NASA do when they send their astronauts into space?

Tom

NASA just sends people up into low earth orbit, 50 to 500 miles. At this point earth's magnetic field is still strong enough to protect astronauts from most of the radiation. It is something like a week or a day of exposure at that height to a year of exposure on the planet surface. Not dangerous.

There is a device like a pendant called "Q link" that claims to protect from both radiation and negative energy such as bad thoughts and emotions. They are very expensive and I do not want to pay just to try it.
