Title: Visualise verus Imagine
Post by: Links Shadow on August 15, 2003, 14:35:19
Robert Bruce says that to help show that you don't need to be able to see the ladder in your mind you just need to imagine that you are doing it without images.  Mr. Bruce does not like the term visualization and tries to avoid it as much as possible.

No, when you visualize your nose, you see a nose in your minds eye. When you imagine where you nose is, you can sense that its where its at.

Does it matter?

When you create a Chiball for the first time, it will be easier to visualize; visualization is used to trick your subconsious and make things a lot easier.

As long as it works, everything is fine. Visualization is - in my opinion! - the same as imagination, the only difference is that you put somewhat more belief and willpower in visualization than in imagination.

This is why I hate english. There are different words for subtle differences in degree of a single idea.

Greetings vedrex,

Visualisation is an attribute of the imagination, the attribute corresponding to vision. Using all of the imagination would mean using some or senses; vision, hearing, smell, taste and touch. Depending on what you are wishing to achieve depends on which senses of the imagination you utilise.

Imagination is not "new age", it is one of the most powerful and important abilities - in the higher worlds everything is created in this way instantly. Indeed it could be said that the entire Universe was created by the imagination of The All.

Imagination is the key to many abilities.

With best regards,

Adrian.

Visualisation is a subset of imagination. Imagination includes the ability of all the five senses in the mind whereas visualisation specifically deals with one sense i.e. vision.

Firstly I'd like to say hi to everyone, Im new to the forum. Ive been wanting to do astral work for ages and only recently started it seriously. Could someone explain what the difference in the below text is? Im not in fact familiar with the new age concept of visualisation so not sure if what im doing is right. For example, when using the full body circuit to raise energy, I see (in my minds eye) my body and imagine my awareness puishing energy along it. Now, am I supposed to see or feel? Thnx for help in advance.

"How To Enter A Trance
Do the relaxation exercise and calm your mind through breath awareness. Imagine you are climbing down a ladder in the dark. Don't visualise a ladder, just imagine you can feel yourself doing it."
