Title: What do people mean when they say ...

activated?

I see that word used all the time and I'm not sure what people are really saying.

Is "Activating" a chakra the simple thing I've been doing for years of running energy along my spine and stopping to feel each chakra?  Tingly, pulsating, spinning, etc?

Or is that just stimulating it and activation is something completely different and major, like "Whoa!  I have now ACTIVATED and am forever changed!"

If activation is the former, then I do it every day to each chakra.  If it is the latter ... I still don't know what the hell it's referring to.

Hard to know ... I've been doing this stuff for awhile without much formal education, so I don't really know the terms in relation to what I already know how to do.

Hi Naiad780,

Like any other industry or profession, metaphysics / spiritual studies has its jargon and picky pedants who insist on making sure the correct terminology is used at every turn. This is an amusing irony as a person's spiritual path is as individual as that person. Within the basic commonly experienced guidelines of spiritual studies, what you feel to be right, for you IS right.

I would say that given your two examples, "activating" your chakras is the former. You bring energy and awareness to an energy centre and it switches on. You feel a tingling sensation around the site, you feel a flow of energy either in or out, and generally, switching on the chakras brings about a nice invigorating feeling.

However you go about bringing energy and awareness to your chakras, if you are getting those sensations you describe, whatever you are doing is working.

What I would say to anyone here raising energy and awareness of their energy centres, is don't get hung up on terminologies and technicalities. You're likely to miss the point, and the benefit, if you do. Do what you know works, and let your energy body sort out the finer details .

Regards,
James.

Thank you for the reply, James. I was just curious as to what people are talking about.  I suppose the good thing about terminology is that if people speak the language, they can refer more easily to these nebulous concepts.  "Activation" is much easier to say than "that thing where you pull the energy through your body into your chakras and you get that spinning and tingling sensation."  ;)

*activated*-
pusling, but  no direct influence to it.
I'm still very sceptical, cause this mustn't be directly  chakra activation.

Signs of an activation are hard to differentiate. It could be also an initiation progress or a further spiritual path.

Hi Aleshah,

Don't get too hung up on what it might or might not mean. Different people register different sensations. Best thing to do is learn to know how your body reacts when you open your chakras. You don't really need to be at all spiritual to work with the chakras, and it is not really an indication of your level of spirituality. They are just a normal part of our body, and something that people can choose to become consciously aware of.

My chakra's don't pulse, except when I focus a lot of energy and attention on one in particular - which is usually my heart chakra.  Normally I feel my skin tingle, and I'm very much aware of the energy movements when they are active.

Focussing attention on a chakra during meditation will keep it active. Just how active you want to make it is up to you. Keep in mind that the chakras work the best by far if they are all equally open and balanced before bringing any extra energy or awareness into one in particular.

Kind regards,
James.

I can activate my chakras more when I just concentrate on one of them. I learned this as a lucid dream technique to make a certain type of dream dependent on which chakra used. I concentrate on one or other of my chakras before falling asleep and it gets a lot warmer and the tingling circle around it and pressure on it grows. Like my whole chest is my heart chakra or my whole head is tingling or the sensation covers my whole throat area, etc. It seems that once they are "opened" or active one can consciously increase the activity or energy of a chakra willingly and purposely and practically without limits(up until you get headaches or similar).

That sounds interesting.  What do you mean by making a certain type of dream dependent on the chakra?

I got that part.  I'm asking for an example of how he (she?) used it and what the results were.
