I've read the site. All the stuff written might have not been tested, but in my opinion this reality is a dream and everything is POSSIBLE not only in this site but everything you can possibly think of is POSSIBLE.

If you think that this stuff is not possible then the site is not reliable for you, but if you believe and have faith in this stuff then the site is reliable for you.

Ki is real. I myself can make Ki balls but not furthur than that. I don't get spare time for training.

If you are really interested in learning to use ki, especially for self defense, I would recommend that you ignore most of the websites that claim to know all about it.  Instead, start taking martial arts classes from a reputable teacher. Tae Kwon Do is good.  You might also look into Kung Fu or Karate.  A good martial arts teacher will spend a lot of time working on breath and ki.  This is the real, practical study and not the fantasy stuff that so many kids seem to be getting sucked into lately.   Just IMHO.  [8D]

Why would one wish to make balls of energy to only hurt people and promote violence? I just seems like a waste of energy to me personally.

Is Ki and Chi the same thing, just different spellings?
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

Ki can be used for self-defense. Even Karate and Kung-Fu hurt people while fighting. But they are just modes for self -defense. This is how Ki can be used. Not only this but Ki Balls are even used for Cryokinesis, Electrokinesis, healing etc.

So it is not a waste of energy.

Ki and chi are the same thing. Ki is a Japanese word whereas Chi is a chinese word.

If the sole purpose of one creating Ki balls is to hurt people, then I feel it is a waste. I did not read much of the website but from what little I did read that is the impression I got from it. I will admit that I did not give it a fair chance in doing so, but I did not feel their was much promise when they said they were wanting to get a team of fighters together. But I guess I would say that I feel it is a waste if one's only purpose in working with Ki is to throw balls at someone because it has many more, and helpful, uses. As for using it for defense, again I think it is a waste if that is the sole purpose unless you just live in a really dangerous area because how often does the average person actually have to defend themself in their life? I would say not many. If I were concerned with defense I would go with Lasher and start practicing martial arts because it will not only teach you self defense but also is good exercise and promotes good health, which is good if you never have to defend your self. If you never have to defend yourself, why waste time throwing energy away? That is my opinion and I am not saying that working with Ki or Ki balls is a waste in general.

As for the Dragonball Z stuff being real, well I have never seen it before so I lean to it not being real, atleast on the level that the shows present it. When something is shown as fantasy, I take it as fantasy. That does not mean there is anything wrong with someone testing it to be real. But I suggest one using caution when someone else takes something as popular and as fantastic as Dragonball Z and says they can do it.

I do not mean that a person sits around with a shield around him everyday just because he thinks that someone might attack anytime. It's just that if someone attacks him at any part of his life he can(At that time), use Ki for self-defense. Same goes for Martial Arts. Nobody Martial Artist goes around blocking every single second. They only self defense when in need. Same goes for Ki. And even our Ki is used in Martial arts. It's just that in Martial arts they fill Ki in their Physical attacks. Attacks with Ki Balls on the otherhand is not physical attack. That's the only difference.

I have studied internal kung fu (and other topics) over 40 yrs.  Ki/chi is real.

I agree with Radha, it is real, but unfortunately the perception many people have about it is unreal.
Apart from my own experience with energy development, I can't speak from first hand martial arts experience, but I have spoken at length with a friend who has practiced Tai Chi for a great many years, is now studying Karate, and is in the process of becoming a Tai Chi instructor.

In the study of Tai Chi, Chi directly translates as "breath". It is through the correct control of breath that energy is gained. This is true also for the study of Yoga, which achieves the same thing, but through different methods. Both practices teach that for most of the time we do not breathe properly - that is, our breathing is too shallow. When we learn to breathe properly, far greater ammounts of energy become available to us. There is nothing mystical about it at all.

Of course there are other ways of raising energy, but correct methods of breathing is probably the most fundamental.

As for all the Dragonball Z philosophies, I won't go as far as to say they can't be done, as maybe a lifetime of intense and dedicated practice of energy raising might allow someone to achieve something of what is portrayed by this fantasy anime series. What I will say about it though, is too many people who get DBZ type notions in their heads, and then come to forums such as this, get caught up with unrealistic expectations.

The positive points for people such as this are -
1) they'll grow up
2) they (should) grow wiser
3) if they do retain an interest in energy raising they will discover some of the real benefits behind it.

Regards,
James.

P.S.
I've just bumped this topic across to energy development, a more appropriate place for this discussion.

man, by the time I got a ki ball to defend myself from an attacker, I'd be creamed.

One of the nice things about "DBZ" (what the heck is it? a comic book?) and other fantasy shows (Star Trek, etc.) is that they inspire people, and then people have new ideas about what is possible. Very real things can come out of them - - inventions, art, ways of relating to other people, etc . . . .

Immature people, young and old, will always make fools of themselves (ever been to a Star Trek convention?), when they are unable to differentiate fantasy from reality.  Truly WISE people (who are interested) will see the truth behind the fantasy, work hard at it, and use it to their advantage when necessary.

I think you are right.  Media hype makes Chi/Ki seem like a circus...and a lot of asians are quick to cash in on gullibility.  I have witnessed these things:
1) I have seen a person knocked completely unconscious from several feet away.  He was out over two hours and woke up with one pupil very dilated and one very small.  (brain damage???)
2) I have seen a person touched, and then double over vomiting.
3) I stood beside a DR friends bed in a hospital.  Car wreck on the riviera...he was bleeding heavily internally.  Surgeon had him being prepped for immediate operation.  My master stopped the bleeding and quietly walked away.  The dr. was out of the hospital that night.
4) I have seen a person stab in slow motion with their finger tips at a one inch pine board.  A slight touch and the board broke.
5) I have seen a person gently touch a person and the person went out like a light.
6) I have seen 2 people put down by a dim mak technique.  Both were dying.  Dr's had already given up on one of them.  My master brought both back with herbs and acupuncture.  Then he dealt with the renegade who did this.  I was one of those to people he had attacked so I know this is true.

The problem (s) I have seen with real (not imaginary) internal arts is just that people won't devote the time it takes to develop their art.  The methods are there to be learned, but the students who can master them are very, very few.

There are probably, per one of my masters, over 5000 different styles of chi kung in China today.  No one knows.  The trick is to first decide what you really, really want.  Then look for a school that can develop it.

Do you want health?  Martial prowess?  Spiritual growth?

I hop that any of you who sincerely want to study find a good school.

I'm not honestly sure.  None of those kind of people I've known taught publicly.  I began with my chinese master (the first one) in the early 60's.  I was bodyguard to a taiwanese govt official, and some incidents led me to  the head of a tong who led me to this man.  He had been raised in a monastary from age 7 to late twenties, then left to fight against the japanese invaders and the communists.
I became his "son" so he could legitimately teach me, with the condition I train his real son when he was of proper age.
I haven't myself been around commercial schools much.  Maybe 30 yrs since the last time I went to one.
All my first master called it was "The Training".  As one example, I did zhan zhang (standing) only for 7 years, usually two hours a night.  In essence the basic seems to me to be "I Chi Lik" in Cantonese, which he said meant that where the will goes, the chi flows and the action or work can potentially be done.
A hard principle to understand for some is that chi does not originate in the body.  It ENTERS the body.  Once there, it is distributed to the systems that use it to keep the body alive.
Until you understand and can apply this concept, you can only try to manipulate the chi already in the body.
There are openings.  Once you can know this with consciousness, not intellect, you are taught to use the will to draw chi to muscles and exercise them.  That is the chi, not your brain and nervous sytem tighten the muscles and release them.  This is not as hard as it might sound, it just takes time and patience to develop.  As the chi is being drawn into your system from "within" you learn to go further and further within over time, drawing even more refined energies into the systems.
A certain amount of this training is the property of religious groups.  This means that the explanations they give have a basis in their religious theory.  Thus, for ex, I searched for about 20 years for a particular lama I wanted to meet so I could learn his Tibetan system.  When I finally found him he pointed out that their art was an exercise of their religion.  No way an outsider could learn it.  So I went elsewhere.
I've lived/worked in 25 countries.  I've worked on tramps on the west african coast and in posh ofices.  Wherever I went I always went hunting for someone who knew something I hadn't seen.  I was often very successful.  In one community the chinese would bring their children to me to teach and so I'd do what I could.  One of them's father floored me with knowledge of the same "using chi to exercise muscles" exercise I mentioned above.  He had also lived in a monastary and gave me even more detail about how they practiced this art.  And so on it went.
A large part of my art is more of the spiritual side, simply as that is where I chose to go with my life.
The Training has to start with a goal.  You have to have a destination firmly in mind before you start.  Think about wjhat you might have as a goal.  Then let's discuss that and perhaps I can help you get started so you can work while you search.
Cheers,
Radha
