Attunemnets

Hi there!

I've been wondering if you really need attunements. Both reiki and chios consider it a 'must-have' but I think it's all fake.
A few weeks ago I got personal reiki-1 attunement but it didn't seem to do anything for me. The distance attunements, I don't trust that at all.
I really like the down-to-earth approach of Robert and am curious what he thinks about these attuments.
Anyone else who can convince me that it's not commercial abuse, please do.

I've undergone three Reiki attunements (the set of attunements for "levels" 1, 2 & 3).  

The attunements I received actually had quite an effect on me, and were transformative to me.  I experienced an increased sensing of energy, an upswing in my lucid dreaming and seeing energy.  

I would say the first two sets of attunements were more profound than the third, though.

I began doing Reiki BEFORE I had the attunements, however, and I had success with it.

And, honestly, I feel--after having the third attunement, the mastership attunement--that the symbols that accompany the attunements are trimming.

What matters is intent.  You've probably heard this before, I've heard it before, but my experiences have confirmed this for me again and again.

There have been times when I've not used my tools at all, or practiced healing at all, and coming back to it what's mattered is rehoning intent--NOT remembering techniques and symbols.

But I would say that the attunements, or at least, having somebody assist you can be lovely, strengthening experience.  It was for me, and continues to be.

Healers, and healer-types, can tend to neglect themselves--give, give, give...So it's nice sometimes to sit back and receive healing.  

And, that's how I essentially see an "attunement--" it's a healing/clearing for you so that you can more effectively channel energy.  The "ritual" of the attunement is just, I think, a specialized protocol for a healing that will address all the major energetic structures that participate in a healing.

Last and final thought...It could be that the attunement you received the other day wasn't a major experience for you because you're already there.  Already clear and already operating at the level that an attunement would normally bring a person to.
