Drink lots of water, at least 2 litres a day.

Sleeping on your back helps make you less puffy, because
fluid drains away from your face overnight or something.

Err ... That's all I can think of right now.

Get a good concealer if they are really bad.

Allergy can be responsible for that. Do you have also a lot of sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, itchy eyes, itchy nose, itchy throat? There are creams for the eyes that you can get on the market. You can also use all kind of veggies (really!) such as avocado (make it into a cream) and cucumber (make it into slices) - not at the same time of course.

gnother possibility might be what you eat: too oilly, too heavy, too much meat, etc... too much alcohol to might be responsible. You might want to try to change your diet completely just to give it a try. For example cut on coffee and drink herb tea. Cut on dairy and meat and try soy protein. Cut on fried food and fatty food and try nuts, almonds, walnuts, etc... Cut on white bread and try whole bread, etc.. More veggies and fruits (fresh if possible).

And though you mention you probably get enough sleep, it is not enough to get 8h of sleep, you also need to sleep at normal hours, so that you are awake during daylight and asleep during darkness (to regulate your level of melatonine - a chemical that has to do with sleep regulation in your body).

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. Some interesting stuff there [:D]

I read about almonds somewhere else on the internet. I bought a bag today. However, they are in their skins - am I supposed to eat the skins, or peel them? I heard the skins are difficult to digest, and the 'blanched' almonds have been chemically treated. Am I supposed to peel each one?!

As you can probably tell - I'm pretty inexperience with almonds...! [:)]

Also, avocado keeps on cropping up. I think I'll buy some of those tomorrow. Never tried them - didn't even know what they looked like until I did an image search on google!

I don't know about puffy eyes, but almonds and avacados are good to just eat!  Depending on what part of the world you are in, it may be difficult or expensive to get good ripe avacados.

In case you don't already know, the avacado should be black and slightly soft when you press on it, if it is too mushy, it's over-ripe, and if its green and very firm, it's under-ripe.

You can place under-ripe avacados in a brown paper bag, and they will ripen.

I have a bag of Raw almonds next to my computer at work, and they make for a great snack.  I eat them with the skins on, they don't detract from the taste very much.

Also,

If you grind up almonds into a fine powder, and add it to very cold Vanilla-Rice Milk, blend it up and add cinnamon, it tastes very good!

Thanks for that info!

So - I bought two 'Large Hass Avocados' today. They were dark green and slightly soft when I pressed them.

I peeled the skin off one of them and cut it into quarters. However, the outer edges were quite green. Am I meant to eat those parts?

I had half the avocado for lunch today, but felt quite hungry by 4pm. Is it possible to eat too many avocados? What is a good amounth to eat per day?

Thanks!

Hmm, I don't know what a good amount to eat is.  I usually eat one avacado though, when I eat one.  They're good on salad, or my favorite method is to use "wheat thin" crackers, or an equivalent, and scrape the avacado right out of the peel.

If the avacado is ripe, and ready to eat, when you quarter it, you should be able to scrape the avacado out with a cracker, and the cracker should not break.. =)  Once you've eaten ripe ones and not so ripe ones, you'll recognize what ones are good.

As an aside, my girlfriend had a friend who was from an area in Africa where they had lots of avacado trees, and she said that she used them as a "facial", so instead of eating them, she smashed them up and smeared them on her face for a while.  I would consider that a waste of good food, but the goals are different.  For me, the avacado is a good source of fat -- I'm a vegetarian.

I usually eat them once or twice a week, becuase they're pretty expensive around here, about $1.99 US each.

Another tasty thing to make with them is guacamole, it's really easy too:

Take 2-4 ripe avacados, peel and remove the pit, put them in a mixing bowl.  Juice 1 lemon, put the juice in the bowl, mince or crush some garlic, add to the bowl, chop up some chillies if you want, add a bit of tomato (sometimes i just throw in some salsa if I don't have any fresh tomato or chillies handy), and mash them to a pulp.

Many recipes use a little sugar and salt as well.  I just throw stuff in until it tastes good.

The circles under my eyes have gone away when I consistantly practice Qigong.  I use Spring Forest Qigong, which focuses on healing.
I have read that circles under your eyes relates to a lack of kidney energy, not just a lack of nutrition and sleep.  I'm not sure, but other energy work could help too.
I think all the posts made are valid and I wish you luck in your quest for health.

Do not eat too many avocados... just maybe one very two days. Avocado are fat, but they have good fat (no cholesterol), the same with all the nuts. You need to add a little bit of salt to the avocado, it helps for the taste. Also if you do not eat the whole avocado and keep it in the fridge, it will turn brown. To avoid that, press some lemon juice on the avocado, it helps keep it fresh for longer.

Almonds, the best is to roast them slightly (in a small oven, or in a pan on low heat without oil) and then add some salt (for taste) and eat them as a snack. Otherwise it is true that the skin does not taste good, but the skin is actually full of good ingredients, so do not get rid of the skin. If you really want to get rid of the skin, then boil water, when the water is boiling poor in you almonds and let them boil for a few minutes, you will see that the skin starts to detach all by itself. Take the almonds out and you will have very easy to peel them. After that you might want to dry them and maybe roast them (you can roast the almond with their skin or without, but do not boil them after you roasted them!, the opposite if you boil them for the peel, then roast them after that). Once they have been roasted they are ready to eat. Also you can eat them fresh without raosting. You can add them to mushrooms, or other dishes.

Now, by the way, there are creams of avocado for the skin of the face! and this what I meant.... initially!!! Also some (girls usually) put slices of cucumber on their face (as a mask) to help the skin. But any how one way or another your skin will get the vitamins it needs, whether by direct aplication of the avocado on your face (!) or by eating the avocado.

I knew a guy who got dark circles under the eyes after he got married, the reason was that he was having too much sex and not enough rest. [;)]

Anyone know of some good ways to alleviate dark circles under my eyes and eye bags? It isn't lack of sleep or exercise - that's for sure.

Your thoughts and advice very much welcome!
