Melatonin has been used as a sleep aid for a while but only recently has it been discovered how it really effects the brain. What melatonin actually does is effects your sleeping patterns, it effects your circadian rhythm and it kick starts your body into sleep mode. You can look it up on wiki if you want to know more. Since you already take it you might already know this stuff but I figured I would share anyways. I take it also, but not as a sleep aid, just on the select nights where I need to fix a sleeping pattern issue and I don't take anymore than 3mg (in fact the recommended dossage is 1.5mg to fix sleeping patterns but the pills I buy come in 3mg and being that I'm lazy and excess melatonin in such small amounts doesn't have any negative side effects I just take the whole pill). I know you take 9(+)mg, and with AD(H)D that dosage might very well be what you need but I'm no expert on the matter, you know better than I do how it effects you personally. Melatonin is my sleep pattern fixer though, I haven't found anything that works better. Some melatonin and a cup of peppermint tea sets me straight
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. Perhaps some day you'll join us, and the world will live as one.

I was just using wiki as an easy reference, it's a medical fact.

I use it for the same reason- coming off vacation or when the dreaded Daylight Savings Time arrives.
