Greetings Blue Light Mystic!

I don't know alot about Mandalas, but I do know that there is great Spiritual power in Tibet in many places from the monasteries to the highest peaks.

Tibetan healing would be an excellent topic for discussion here.

With kind regards,

Adrian.

G'day/night to you Adrian! (wavin' & smilin') ~

Thanks so much for your kind words and welcoming the topic here. And, thanks for telling me about Tibet too. I also know of a good CD that one could listen to that relates to Tibet that's spiritual instrumental music that I absolutly love. It would also be great to listen to it if you've had a hard and stressful day at work.

Anyway, the CD's by Tangerine Dream and is called, The Seven Letters From Tibet. The music was composed and performed by Edgar and Jerome Froese. A statement that a Tibetan monk/buddhist must've made from one of the Seven Letters that I feel you as well as a few others on your site might find intriguing that was made on this CD was the following:

"There is a higher, unknown more absolute field of manifestation. It is impossible to enter this field as lung-breathing beings. If our state of nature is fundamentally violated,  we cannot maintain ourselves. It is the same in the multitude of spaces in the all-revelation. It is utterly impossible to transfer a creature from its own natural space into another space which is not in agreement with its nature. One revelation is not compatible with another. The universal doctrine says that the original substance, both in this world and in the one above it, is sevenfold and that every situation and principle is divided by degrees into seven gradations of density and of nature. And so it goes on, until there is a, for us, unknown number of spaces within the original seven which in turn are to be considered as a unity. This unity, seen as a whole, reveals the entire universe. So there is not a single atom of empty space."

This is really a deep and very well thought out statement indeed! I somewhat understand it, and another part of my physical mind doesn't....go figure. Yes, it's impossible for someone due to the laws of nature to be able to breathe say, water if one normally and only can breathe air. However, whenever it comes to spirit as well as the other planes of existance including the astral for example, one can breathe, air, water and any other substance of their choosing because the astral body as well as other kinds of body's one uses 'elsewhere' can do this with great ease due to that body not being physical. Our 'other' body's aren't as solid and dense as our physical one is, and are just composed up of light and energy. Light and energy can basically do anything, so that's why many of the physical laws on the physical realm that can't normally be accomplished doing can be done on another level of existance.

And, one more thing, there is no 'true' empty space, because all space is indeed occupied by 'something' in some way. It is at least because there are things that can not be seen by our physical eyes that occupy this 'empty' or 'negative' space, and these most of the time are atoms and molecules as the Tibetan said in his letter.

Would anyone like to make a few other comments about that Tibetan letter above? I'd love to hear what anyone else thinks about it too. (*warm smile*) ~

If you really want to know what I think, here it is: There is nothing to gain from studying mandalas out of context. If you want to study Vajrayana Buddhism and focus specifically on using mandalas for healing, that is fine. If you just study mandalas and nothing of the religion, then you are wasting your time.

In Reiki secret signs and words dating back 2500 years to Tibet and written in sanskrit have been passed on over the years to Japan and then to the rest the world . I was attuned to Usui Shiki Ryoho teachings . There is much information on the web on Reiki and it's transformation to the US. I hope some day to create a forum on the subject of Reiki and it's history, please respond if you feel this would be well recieved

Hello there Tom. Thanks for your reply. ~

Basically Tom, I just like how the form of a mandala is and looks. They are circular, most are symmetrical and geometrical, full of shapes and colors. They also can be found existing naturally in nature all around us as well according to an author of another mandala book called, Mandala, Journey to the Center by Bailey Cunningham. Here's also what Bailey Cunningham said, "Mandala is the ancient Sanskrit word for circle, and is seen by Tibetans as an ideal diagram of the cosmos, an object of meditation that can lead one to enlightenment." (forward flap).

Also, mandalas are and can be most of the time beautiful pieces of art work to look at and have. They can also be made to help encourage healing if used for art therapy and can be created for another person as well to help them heal. This is basically what I like about them. Maybe we could just have a place where we could talk about them like this and not so much as just focus on the Tibetan religion in general. ~

Hello Reikimaster. Thanks for your reply too. ~ (*smile*) ~

Thanks for sharing what you know about Reiki. I know a few people who are Reiki Masters as well as you now. ;) Yes, I'd like to see your site someday as well. Are their different kinds of Reiki and not just one then? I don't know much about it, but know and have been told that unless one is actually attuned to be a Reiki Master, one can not reveal the secret symbols to those who aren't...Is that true? Can you tell me the color you use, or must the color a Reiki Master use be kept secret as well?

Well, obviously, I certainly need to read more up on the subject, so I'd love to see your site someday! Reiki sure is a good thing, as it has helped save a few people's lives that I know...and it's pretty neat seeing color near one's face while having their eyes closed instead of the usual black that we normally see whenever our eyes are shut too. ;)  ~

My thoughts on mandalas are clear enough. Even so, I may have been wrong. My attitudes have not changed; it is just that I forgot that not all mandalas come from Buddhism and that they don't all require a series of initiations to be effective. Here is a web site with a few mandalas for specific purposes. They are basically just designs intended to produce specific results when working with their energy.

I took a peek at those mandalas,  and they were soothing. I don't know much about this stuff. It seems that they would work, but mostly because of color theory. It's interesting. With the site that Tom suggested, you chose something like: gain energy or strengthen heart. Then you gaze at the mandala  for five minutes at a time. If you're thinking about the goal/healing, could they be psychosematic? In any case, it would be nice to learn more about them.  ...and for anyone interested, my paintings have also been known to enhance lives! (i couldn't resist!)

G'day/night all. I just wanted to see if maybe we could start a section that discusses mandalas, what they are and what their main purpose is. Has anyone ever heard of making a mandala for another person to help induce healing for the person it's being made for?

Also, if there are any people from Tibet on here, as well as people who love to create mandalas, you're also welcome to talk about them here too. I'm curious to learn more about mandalas as well as how Tibetan monks think and believe about certain life aspects, such as how they view life in general.

I especially love this quote by Terry Clifford, Tibetan Buddhist Medicine and Psychiatry, in Judith Cornell's book, Mandala on page 73:

"The inherent Buddha-nature is said to be like a diamond, indestructible, pure and empty in itself, but luminous in reflecting the manifestation of energies as rainbow light." Terry Clifford

If any of you would be interested in reading more about what a mandala is, do look into this beautifully illustrated book that talks all about them:

Mandala, Luminous Symbols for Healing by Judith Cornell, Ph.D.
