I just came across a solar healing - Solar Gazing system - that I would like to bring to your attention.

The Home page is:           http://www.solarhealing.com/default.htm

And the How-To page is:   http://www.solarhealing.com/sgprocess.htm

Here is another website that deals with sun gazing

http://www.sungazing.com/

Mason Dwinell has completed the sun gazing practice and gives some tips on his website.

He urges caution when practicing sun gazing. The Sun has been very active lately, and one should take great care to be gentle on one's eyes.

Those who have any eye problem should not start eye gazing with open eyes right away. The techique how to begin in that case is described in the Our Ultimate Reality forum, under Abandance and Health, Solar Gazing Healing.

I would actually suggest, even to those who have no eye problems, to start first with the closed eye sun gazing as described at the other forum. That would keep your eyes from being hurt or damaged.

It would be wiser to use an artificial light source with a closed eye.

Hello jax4,

Artificial light has no healing properties. It is only solar radiation that can strengthen your eye muscles and your eyesight so you could start doing the open-eye sun gazing after that. Nothing could be gained by using artificial light.

Hi,

Don't you think that advising that people look directly into the sun is a very irresponsible thing to do?

REF:  http://www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/319/7208/469
There are two main mechanisms of retinal injury from solar radiation. Thermal burn is caused by looking at the sun through a telescope or through other optical aids, which can cause a temperature rise of10-25°C in the retina. But the most common form of solar retinopathy is caused by looking at the sun without eye protection. A retinal temperature rise of as little as 4°C can trigger photochemical injury to the retinal receptor cells. The condition can occur without pain and without being immediately apparent. No treatment has been shown to be effective for solar retinopathy. In some cases the retinal changes seem to be reversible, but in others there is permanent loss of the photoreceptors. In a study after an eclipse in Turkey in 1976, around 10%of those with damage had permanent visual loss to the extent that they were not able to read a car number plate at 25 yards (23 metres) with the affected eye or eyes.

This is why one practices the solar gazing only during safe times, which are as close as possible to sunrise and sunset. The UV levels might be quite high during eclipses, and people start staring at the sun long before it becomes all covered by the moon. This is why the damage occurs.

Many people went thought this practise during safe times with no damage to their eyes. If anybody is concerned about any eye damage, they should contact support at both sungazing website given above, and ask questions, chat with those people who went through the whole entrainment and have guided many other people to do so safely. They actually claim that the eyesight gets better in the process.

Thanks, I also had a look at the web sites. Very interesting disciplines.

Nameless

I know solar gazing is very beneficial to balancing your energies. I think anyone with a brain should know not to open wide and try to stare down the sun. Anything beneficial in this world also has a counter if overdone or approached recklessly. I know the FDA might make producers of pretty much anything put disclaimers on their products but seriously no one can protect anyone from a lack of common sense.

I highly recommend """responsible""" sun gazing.
Remember, You came here to this physical earth to experience it in its physical form. NPR will always be there.
