Hi
First off let me tell you I'm no expert on knee problems in general. However I did take a harsh fall on my knees a few years ago. The left one was hurt worse than the right one. I did not seek medical care and during the year it took to heal I had my doubts of my decison not to get prompt attention by an expert. I have a tendency to think "heal" from the get go of something, so my mindset is not in the "get help" mode. The right knee mended well. The left knee seemed to waver back and forth on healing. It was as if it would flare up and then start to heal repeatedly.
I finally broke down and made an appointment for an ortho specialist to see. The day before my appointment day was to arrive my troubled knee suddenly healed completely. I cancelled the appointment. Wouldn't you know the next day it began it's old tricks again. It's seems to take a lot of intuition in healing. I thought and decided this knee problem is my problem to heal not someone else's.
More time passed and finally I decided warm baths may help. This worked.I read somewhere to stay in the bath long enough for your toes to wrinkle. The time spent relaxing in the bath served more than one purpose. Not only did it benefit my knee it also gave me time to pay attention to the structures below my knees. These lower parts seemed to appeciate the added attention and I think they in turn helped with the support of the higher knee part. It wasn't long until my knee problem was gone.
I didn't have the problem with large amounts of fluid on my knee.  Is it unheard of to have the fluid removed in stages so your body can adjust gradually to the fluid removal?

I wanted to add an oddity about this healing because I've noticed similar activity since then when something is on the mend. Just before my left knee healed for good there was a short period of energy exchange between both my knees. The pain on the left for a brief time transferred to my other knee and then that pain quickly dispersed. Strange but true. Subtle and quick. I noticed the same thing happened when I had a shoulder problem at later time.

Hi LogoRat

If I were in your situation, I would do the following things:

1.   I would start a 3 month trial on a glucosamine and condroitin fomula. These 2 herbs in combination have worked wonders for many people with debilitating joint problems. Glucosamine and condroitin formulas are available through most herbal companies. Just be careful that you buy from a reputable company.
2.   If you haven't already done so, I would get Robert Bruce's article on Energy Body Development: N.E.W Energy Ways. Get it from the downloads page at http://www.astralpulse.com. This offers a super self-healing system. Robert has even seen a case where someone completely arrested the progression of their own lung cancer for several years, and he discusses this in the above article. He also discusses other amazing self-cures. If I were you, I would learn the N.E.W Energy Ways system inside and out, and apply it to that knee.
3.   I would educate myself: I would do a lot of research on borrelia, starting on the internet. It is very possible that the doctors that you've seen really don't know that much about it. There has got to be some expert out there who can give you the real scoop about borrelia. Don't give up looking for answers! If you were infected with borrelia, then I assume you now have a form of Lyme Disease? There are a ton of support groups and resources for people who are dealing with the aftermath of borrelia infections. Get involved. Check out http://www.lymenet.org for example. Just doing a quick search myself, I found a few forums on on Lyme Disease. Amazon.com pulls up 125 books when you do a search on Lyme Disease.
4.   I would not give up! Chronic conditions usually take time to heal.

More about GLUCOSAMINE and CHONDROITIN:
"Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate supplements are used to slow the progression of osteoarthritis — the deterioration of cartilage between joint bones — and reduce associated pain. They are both naturally occurring molecules in the body. Glucosamine is thought to promote the formation and repair of cartilage. Chondroitin is believed to promote water retention and elasticity in cartilage and inhibit enzymes that break down cartilage.

Glucosamine is sold in many forms, including glucosamine sulfate, glucosamine hydrochloride (HCl), and N-acetylglucosamine (NAG), and may also contain a potassium chloride or sodium chloride salt. However, there appears to be no conclusive evidence that one form is better than another. Chondroitin is typically sold as chondroitin sulfate.

Currently, glucosamine and chondroitin are not considered drugs in the U.S. and are not required to be tested for quality by any governmental or other agency prior to sale. As part of its mission to independently evaluate health, wellness, and nutrition products, ConsumerLab.com purchased and tested many of the leading glucosamine, chondroitin, and combined glucosamine and chondroitin dietary supplements sold in the U.S."

LogoRat I suggest that you try going to a Chinese healer
that cures with acupuncture/herbs, because Chinese doctors
seem to know a lot more about diseases than western doctors
( perhaps theyre just not close-minded [:)] ).

I personally think that its a good sign that your knee
fills up with fluid, its a sign that your body is fighting
whatever's in there. To me it sounds like your immune system
is not strong enough to tackle the infection.
I support Wisp's warm bath idea because it will bring
more blood to the area, I also suggest massaging the area.
Common sense does dictate that your knee will fill up
with more fluid if you do that though... if it doesnt hurt
I'd suggest letting the fluid accumulate. Also, perhaps it
would be good if you took some metabolism-boosting herbs
to speed up the pace of the fluid's reabsorbtion.

Remember that I'm not a doctor and that my suggestions
might not be very good ideas ( except the Chinese doctor
suggestion, try eastern medicine if western medicine
failed you! ).

Good luck LogoRat, and remember that your knee is
only an extension of yourself :-)

Borrelia does not resolve itself. You need to find a doctor that specializes in Borrelia infection. Most infectious disease docs do not understand Borrelia's ability to become chronic. Your knee keeps swelling because it is still harboring infection.

My knee is swollen.
Ive had problems sinse i got a tic maybe 7years ago.
And i got borrelia from that insect.
I have been treated with all kinds of strange drugs and i have been to empty my knee every 2nd month before.
Nowdays i have stopped all medication because the treatment ive got was wrong for my condition, the hospital kinda looked the other way on the fact that i had borrelia.
And now the borrelia is gone but my swollen knee has become chronic.
So nowdays i always have a swollen knee, but i dont empty it anymore because it doesnt matter, it gets filled up again and again and again.
The reason for my knee getting swollen is because my system is trying to attack some inflamation in the knee.
But the inflamation cannot be treated cuz its gotten chronic.

Soo, what i need todo is to find someone that have knowledge on how to heal these things.
What should i do, what can i do.. and is there any hope for my condition.
Or should i keep having it swollen and deal with it?
