Title: Tuning forks for therapy - anyone here have any experience?
Post by: Eagle on December 08, 2009, 03:13:10
I am looking at getting some weighted tuning forks for various physical ailments (lower back pains, etc.) and for any other positive benefits.  Does anyone have any recommendations on what to start with?  A couple of OM ones?  A set of chakra forks?  I don't really want to put out too much until I have some experience and see if I like them or not, so I'd like to start with a basic set.  Any experience or suggestions on where to start?

Thanks!

Eagle,

I have only used tuning forks once, so I can only tell you of my experience.

About 5 years ago I had arthritis in my right index finger.  I was at my doctors office for my usual checkup(diabetic).  I have a habit of playing with things in her exam room while I'm waiting for her.  I found her tuning fork in a desk drawer and played with that.  I noticed that my finger didn't hurt when the fork was vibrating so I put it directly on my sore knuckle.  It felt really good.  That night I bought one off of Ebay.  I used it for a few days and my knuckle has not bothered me since.

The tuning fork that I bought was 128 cycles  I think that is a low "C".  I don't know whether this was any help to you, but it proved to me it does work well.  If I were you I would research tuning forks on the net to see what will work for your specific problems before buying any.  Try one first then if it works buy a good set.

Good Luck and God Bless,
Paul

If they have a similar effect to singing bowls, then I can say that they're probably pretty relaxing.  :)
